Playing slowly with metronome was very helpful. I'm a producer working with a conga player and need to understand the rhythms better - even if I can't remotely play them!

Ha ha - in my earliest mix, I was interpreting the 4th beat as the one... it actually sounded pretty cool - but glad the conga player didn't hear it! I'd never live it down.... Thank you for clarifying!

Hello again its Rich. I want to thank you again for those three Brazilian patterns. Band is DOWN TO THE BONE ; the main ingredient. Song 1.together we stand 2. Cut and run Hope you enjoy those kick butt songs. Rich

Great percussion channel! I really like your approach to teaching, especially Congas. Very high quality channel. I look forward to purchasing your conga instructional book. Is your conga book available in a hard copy?
@RhythmNotes4 жыл бұрын
Not yet. I wasn't planning on releasing it for another year, but viewers asked for one. I'm currently looking into Amazon print options.

I really love the back story on this one . We rarely get to hear from our mentors when we are playing,cause usually they are very busy too. I too would of thought or ( feeled) a tumbao. Your emphasis on playing that push onto the tumba on 3 is fantastic. Thank you Senor. RB

Thanks Richard. The teacher I was referring to was Jose Aponte. He is a percussion and jazz professor at the University of North Texas, and the festival was in town. So, yes ... it was awesome and sometimes terrifying that our music teachers often came to see us play local gigs. ... And thanks for commenting on the backstory. I always want to share where I'm coming from on an idea, but it's hard to know if the viewers really want to hear about it.

You're good bro,. I just subbed. I would like to see intermediate to advanced practice techniques or rudiments on cajon or congas. Also do you have any Timba style patters you could share? They work well in pop music too. Thanks, good channel!
@RhythmNotes4 жыл бұрын
I have a video coming out in a few weeks with some with a timba pattern. You could check out congaguide.com it’s an ebook I write that has some timba patterns. The next months in this channel will include three-drum patterns that may like.

Nice samba grooves, However i"d rather also choose hand to hand patterns more than heel-toe for the brazilian music.

Where did you get the REMO heads for congas.
@RhythmNotes8 ай бұрын
I bought those years ago. It’s been tough to get them. I’m switching to LP Fiberskyn when I need to replace my synthetic heads. Here’s my conga replacement head guide. There’s links to check prices about halfway down. rhythmnotes.net/replacement-conga-heads/

Hello again Rich hear. The high to low Surdo pattern is very helpful. I will have a opportunity to sit in with a very creative Portuguese singer. I feel some samba in her music , but it’s so subtle. I don’t even her much samba from the drummers groove. So with that said , I remember your comment about playing a TUMBAO against a bossa nova. I want to be careful to avoid that.I’m thinking maybe I can throw in a little mixed salad so to speak and play a hybrid mattillo. I apologize for the vagueness of my explanation. Maybe you can listen to a little of her music and get back to me ? Artist : Ramana Vieria. Oh how do I get your conga instructional book ? Thanks Rich
@RhythmNotes3 жыл бұрын
congaguide.com … Ramana’s music sounds like you couple mix a lot of different Latin rhythms. I would focus on keeping the percussion parts simple and groovin hard.
@richardbonomo86233 жыл бұрын
Ok my friend, I will do that and keep it simple. You add alot of joy to peoples lives. Keep grooving. Rich

Master, good night! Master, I would like you to give a class on reggae rhythm and its variations, very diversified rhythm in Brazil, in the state of Maranhão. And if possible I would like the master to give an evaluation on my score of the reggae rhythm.
@RhythmNotes4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider myself a master, certainly of Brazilian rhythms. But I'm an enthusiastic student and teacher, so yes I will add it to my list of vids to make.
