I've never really understood why ginyu is considered low teir. Sure his combos can be hard to learn but if he gains momentum, VERY few people can stop him. I'm still trying to learn how to play him effectively, but he is a blast to play!

It's one of those things where there have always been way easier character choices in the game, so he's been looked at as not worth learning. But yes, he's incredibly good and incredibly fun!

Tbh I really feel putting him at bottom 3 is disingenuous to Ginyu. In my opinion, he is probably mid to almost high tier (no higher tho due to power creep)

As much as Ginyu is indeed a good character, there are some things that keep him down in most people's opinion: -Hard to learn; -Low damage output (aside for corner combos and highly optimized combos, which are very damaging); -Very gimmick reliable: without his gimmick, he's pretty bad when compared to other characters. This means that if your opponent finds a way around the GF and/or plays a character that makes it easier, you're in for a bad time; -No low 2L and second slowest 2M in the game (Terrible high-low mix); -Slightly above than average mix: the only good thing he has is that the force can cause visual noise, which makes it harder to see the mix, but aside from that, he can't do anything fancy.

Go1 (DBFZ's best player ever in my opinion) picked up Ginyu for a little while and the result was scary to opponents.

Nice guide -- looking forward to the next one! Also, side note for his B assist for people who might want to use it - While it always follows the "S, 236S, 214S, S" pattern, you can shuffle around the order by using his S attack on point, so if you plan ahead, you can avoid using his B assist to call out something like the Recoome Bomber if you want. And if you play Ginyu point before switching out, you can set it up to get the Purple Comet attack all loaded up which is kind of insane for other characters to have as an assist. Kind of feels like playing with a loaded deck of cards. Ginyu plays super dirty -- I love it :D

You missed 3 big details about Ginyu's B assist and body change 1. B assist also generates meter, ¼ bar the first time, ½ bar the second, and ¾ bar the third before repeating from the start 2. If Ginyu changes bodies with Ginyu, they can still use body change and call in members of the Ginyu force. 3. Swapping with Ginyu also gives you their cycle, so if the enemy Ginyu has Recoome as his next summon and you swap bodies, you will call out Recoome as your next summon. And despite how it would make sense, the Ginyu force members also change colors with the Ginyu, so if you're using color 01 and swap with color 02, all the members you summon will also use color 02.

Thank you for demonstrating once again that not everyone is meant to teach! Also your post is incredibly ironic, and honestly very funny. It seems you missed some very crucial details my friend. First of all, not only did I mention the meter build from ginyu B, but did you happen to take a look at when this guide was posted? The buffed meter build had not be implemented at the time of this guide. However I did make a follow up video that covers that information. Second this is a "how to play" guide. The purpose of this guide, as stated, is to teach people what they need to know to pick up this character. The intricate minutia of specific rules concerning swapping specific characters is absolutely not key information that someone needs in order to pick up this character. Once again, I made a separate video covering the ins and outs of body change, as it's a broad topic that I don't want bogging down a beginners guide that is already over 30 minutes long. I'd suggest you work on your own observation skills before deciding anyone else has "missed details".

So something I've gotten to work a few times, bearing mind that I'm a low skill player who plays against my low skill friends, is 214S Guldo, immediately vanish. Vanish kicks them into Guldo's attack, and you can follow with SD.

Summon into vanish is pretty good in certain situations! I didn't put it in this guide because it is punishable if the opponent is ready for it. However recoome S ~ vanish and Jeiece S~Vanish can be very difficult to 2H even if you're ready!

Could you explain more about how Ginyu B assist works? Because sometimes the ginyu force come out with different moves, I get Recoomes Bomber instead of his beam, and purple comet starts instead of Jeices Ki blast. Is there a way to tell which one you will get?

sure. Ginyu B rotates an input pattern along with the summons. It will always follow the patter of S, 236S, 214S. This is why its hard to keep track of what will come next. It is manageable however, as long as you keep track of the input rotation in your head as you play.

Great guide man! Didn't realize body change can counter raw lvl 3. Definetely trying that out. For anyone interested, I'd like to give two tips on Recoome's beam summon: - When summoned on the ground, microdash right after. This way it autopunishes if the opponent vanishes or if he hits you with a normal (they won't hit Recoome). Also DON'T JUMP! The ground is your safe, happy place. You are protected from almost all attacks and you can safely summon Burter if they dodge jumping, where Burter will get them. - Combo ender: if you don't have smash/sliding knockdown when finishing a combo in the air, do shoulder and cancel into Recoome beam. Ginyu mantains the momentum from the shoulder, propelling him forward. This way you land closer to the opponent and Recoome is left offscreen, almost impossible to hit. IMO this combo ender is even stronger than sliding/hard knockdown.

@@MisterAcolyte yeah I'm going to be real I'm not the best player when it comes to fighting games it's just very difficult for me to dedicate so much time into a game like fighting games but I still enjoy playing them but with a guide like this I actually had it usable information as you broke down literally so much information in a way they can actually be digested and used most guys I've seen with this basically very basic tips that only new players could really benefit from and then tell you to go practice for 40 hours with the character to maybe make them playable or mentions they have potential but doesn't showcase it... so the fact that you not only show usable combos but step-by-step on ways to Branch out into other things shows how much work in you put into your videos

My biggest beef with Ginyu's lv 3 is that you can almost never kill a sparking character if you end a combo with it or even hit it raw. even if that sparking opponent has what seems to be little health he will continue recovering health while being hit by the Ginyu force through the lv3 animation. I think it is the worst lv3 in the whole game in terms of killing the spark. Also, it is the secondary lv3 since it was added later into the game, so when I mash it during blocking I get a super dash by mistake many times lol. I wish body swap would be Ginyu's secondary lv3 since it's the one that's more rarely used.
