it's absolutely insane that this is free content. This is my favorite piece that I can play and you've made me see even more beauty in it and helped me improve it. Don't be disappointed if your channel is not as popular as others, you have much more quality advice but because it's more advanced there's a smaller viewer base for you.

Your tutorials are hands down the best and most effective on YT Not just for learning the particular piece, but also for building skills. I learned about "voicing" for example in your Chopin's E minor Prelude and it has since added so much to the color and musicality of my playing across pieces Also, it would be so amazing if you can cover Ravel's pavane pour une infante too! Thanks :)
@Antune2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the generous comment! I am pleased to hear you can implement the techniques I explain in different pieces. That’s the goal for sure! I wish I could tell you when I can make a video on Ravel’s Pavane. However, it takes weeks to make a video as I am doing it all by myself, next to my concerts, lessons, and daily life :) What I can tell, though, is that it will be the first video of Ravel on my channel as it is a very special piece for me!

Thank you for this lesson. I learned a lot, especially about fingering. I never had piano lessons, but taught myself. I read the books that my older brothers took lessons from just so I could know how to play the notes in the songs they played that I liked the most. The first song I had a desire to learn was "Ragtime Raggles" in John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course, Book 1. I couldn't get it out of my head, but when I saw the music (page 21), I had no way of knowing how to play it. So to keep from having to sit still for lessons, which I just could not bear to do, I secretly read the book from the beginning, until I understood what notes to play with what fingers in that song. Once I learned that song, I progressed to other more difficult pieces. Eventually, I memorized over 11 pieces from John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano, Books 2 and 3. I would work for days, weeks or months to memorize all the notes. Then I would practice them until I could make them sound beautiful. My parents never made me take lessons, seeing I could play songs better than all but one of my brothers that did have lessons! Eventually I took on Moonlight Sonata (1st movement only), several Chopin Preludes (the prettiest sounding ones: 4,6,15,20,22), a Chopin Nocturne, DeBussy's "Reverie" and a few other pieces. All that, to say, at the age of 68, I finished memorizing this Nocturne that you are teaching. It took me 8-10 months just to memorize it. I tried when I was in college, but failed to navigate jumping from chord to chord, so I only learned the right hand! This past year, I put my mind to it, and succeeded. I am now working on making it as beautiful as possible. I like my interpretation better than yours, but I cannot execute as well as you, of course. I can never play any song all the way through without making mistakes, but I sure enjoy playing, and making it sound as beautiful as possible. Recently, I stopped in at a piano store and played it (as well as Chopin's Prelude No. 6). The store owner and customers crowded around, and expressed that I play beautifully. How satisfying! Thank you for the things I learned from this video. There were at least three things that helped me. Thank you again!!

That was an interesting lesson. It's cool to see how people make variants of the same pieces. I prefer the one by Rosseaux personally. Though at my skill level and my progress on the piece, it's mostly a struggle to play the notes at all lol, but I still try to make it sound as nice as possible and give it my personal touch, playing notes how I feel them.

Hey so I have been working on Scarlatti’s sonata in b minor k 87 and just need some advice on one technique that I assume is common in Scarlatti. It’s the 6th intervals in the right hand. It’s hard to have them be fluid and connected, even with peddle. Do you have any suggestions on how to peddle the measures with consecutive 6th intervals? It’s eighth notes in 3/4, so maybe every quarter note?
@Antune2 жыл бұрын
I am afraid I cannot answer this question with a comment because it is a complex issue. Hopefully, I’ll make a video on K.87 in a few months! I can say, though, to focus primarily on connecting the upper notes of the 6ths because it is more essential to play legato in the melodic layer. Good luck!
@littlejOwnsU2 жыл бұрын

Hii, thanks for the lesson, I'd like to know what tempo should I set my metronome, it says 132 the quaver note does it mean I should set my metronome at 66 for a black note?
@Antune2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, you are welcome! I am afraid I am not sure what you mean by black note. But I can say that 66 bpm isn't the best choice as that's equal to a quarter note. 44 bpm would equal a dotted quarter note, but it's too slow. So I recommend you play at 132 bpm for the eighth note, as suggested. Good luck!
@Israelwinner-u3u2 жыл бұрын
