Excellent Em. I’m a leftie on a right hand kit. But I’ve learned to lead right and now, I’m leading left on this. Can only make me ambidextrous

'Come Together' was the second song I learnt to play, and when I was researching how to play it (the main riff), talk about different opinions, eg, because he's left-handed he goes up the toms, etc, etc. Anyway, I stumbled on the version that you are playing, and I have stayed with that. When listening to it, it's hard to tell because of the tea towels muffling the sound. Even a drum music book I purchased has a different version. Anyway, recently I watched a clip, where Ringo himself demonstrated, and he starts on the floor tom, and, you guessed it, ascends up the toms. But, I'm sticking to the version that you also play. Sorry for the long rant, but at the time, trying to learn it, was confusing to say the least. Cheers, love your posts, by the way.

So I was studying this song, but after watching this I'm trying these tips for sure! Thanks! I had already watched the video of Ringo that people say, but I cannot get a similar sound that way, so I stick to the clockwise movement.

You're correct that Ringo is left handed. However there is a youtube video where he explains that because he is left handed the opening triplet fill starts on the floor tom and moves up to the high tom. He says he can't play it the way you are demonstrating it. I'm a drum teacher and I always played this wrong also until I saw Ringo explain it. Please watch the Ringo video and you can see him showing how he played it.

I’m not sure you’re right as the notes sound descending. And watching him he seems to still play left to right

Ringo had a video where he showed how he plays Come Together. He goes from the snare to the floor Tom and then the mid Tom’s - the other way around

Like this! Although I'd like to think I was a bit of an RS acolyte - just like watching the explanation. Doing it's another thing, but will settle for the opening pattern right now.

Thanks so much for slowing down what you are playing it helps out an old fart like me,that has recently purchased an electronic drum kit as i sold my acoustic kit,to my nephew,almost got my home recording studio set up now.

if you click the settings button on the yt vid you are on, you can slow the vid down more, probably wont help much here but if ur working on another song you have a built in feature to do it! However you will also need to reset the speed or it will stay like that for every other video

According to Ringo himself (search for Ringo Come together), he goes the other way on the toms, floor tom first and then up, on that particular song. The reasons being he's left handed as you said, and that he never practices. ”Either it comes easy or it doesn't come at all”, as he said himself, something like that anyway. Edit: I just saw that someone else already said this, so I'm sorry for repeating.
@NowOffTheClock7 ай бұрын
Naturally. Either it comes naturally, or it doesn't come at all. 😉🙂👍🏻
@warburtonpaulАй бұрын
@@NowOffTheClock Kind of...you've just dismissed all the non-naturals: probably 90%. Surely, it's all about learning as well? Ringo was a song drummer, so he adapted something every time to fit what John, George and Paul were playing. In essence, he did what he liked! It worked, of course, but most of us have to study; read music, and practice.
