This video is a thing of beauty. It is a shining example of clear and concise communication. The humor even keeps you engaged. I don't know how much preparation it took to produce this explanation, but it is fantastic. If you could do this on a regular basis, I have no doubt this channel would dwarf watch it played within a year.

Thanks so much, grog. These videos take 40-70 hours for me to produce. i’be been at this since 2017, but have yet to eclipse any larger channels. :). But if you’d like to help get the word out, it would be a big help if you’d consider sharing my work in Facebook or Reddit.

Am I the only one thinking that maybe the gameboard sides are flipped? ITALIA should be the one who is not played, and the one shown is Imperium. Basically Italia is Italy (the map shown on the back of the board is the map of Italy and it's islands). And the one shown is the one of the area under the Roman Empire... So makes sense to be the Imperium one instead.

Nights Around a Table . Ok I understand the idea of the architect card, but what does the strip on the bottom mean? It shows, a card, sias “tools” and shows the tool icon. The strip is red. Is that for scoring or taking an action like a card or tool? I guess after playing Istanbul, Im thinking Im missing something
@NightsAroundaTable
@NightsAroundaTable 4 жыл бұрын
@@gowensbach2998 The particular Architect card you're looking at isn't one of the standard cards you begin with - it's one of the cards that can get dealt out to the shopping row at the top of the board. The red strip with tools on it is the cost of purchasing the card when you play the Senator (plus the cost depicted below the card, printed on the board, which changes depending on which slot the card is in). Check out 6:17.

@@gowensbach2998 Yes! You spend the card, and it goes in your discard pile, which you reclaim back into your hand when you play your Tribune card. At the end of the game, during Minerva scoring, the Farmer gets you points for all your food cities.

@NightsAroundaTable
@NightsAroundaTable 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kseniia! They're both great games. Between the two, i think Concordia has better replayability. You can buy extra maps for Concordia, but CoB has varied player boards right out of the box. Concordia feels a lot more like you're playing WITH people, whereas CoB borders on multiplayer solitaire (apart from a few elements). So that bit of info could play to your preferences. @@kseniiakalinina1520 i have only ever played Istanbul once, and only the base game without all the bells and whistles. i enjoyed it. Thanks for noticing! i get hung up on pronunciation, particularly of people and place names. That's why i haven't done a video on Teotihuacán ;)

Ok but i have question and it might be silly.. but how to gain resources? I know i can gain them from the cities or whatever i’ve builded but what the mechanics of gaining resources from my buildings?

The Prefect! Play the card, pick a province, flip the tile. If you choose goods instead of money, everyone with a city in that province gets goods too! You can also use the Mercator card to buy goods.

13:39 Every other player going clockwise around the table gets one additional sestertius __than the previous player__ to start.

Your addition doesn’t do anything to further clarify that statement though (?) What else could it mean without that?

I just noticed in the beginning of the video you show the Italia map when you call it Imperium, and show the Imperium map when you call it Italia.

Ill be the rule lawyer here and say, one of the condition is not of buying the last card, but buying a card when no more can replace the bought vard.

Objection! From the rulebook: "Game End. If a player purchases the last personality card and such empties the display on the board..."

I suppose you technically could Diplomat a Diplomat, but it wouldn’t change anything.

Ah, but the rulebook expressly forbids it! Someone from Rio Grande Games comes to your house and slaps you with a citation.

It's fun, but not too difficult! What's your familiarity with hobby board games? i think this one is a bit more enjoyable than Catan, with a similar complexity.

@@NightsAroundaTable Although I usually played a few board games like monopoly in my childhood but I have gotten into german board gaming just 5 months ago during covid 19 lockdown in India. I have bought almost 9 games since March this year. Some of my favourites are Istanbul, splendor, TTR US and Europe, Carcassonne and forbidden island. I play with my 10 year old son who is as excited as I am to play them. I would be really thankful if you could please make a gameplay of Istanbul with both expansions. Not a single video on KZbin on this....I love the way u explain in your videos....Great going. Got yourself a new subscriber1

@@NightsAroundaTable for some reason I have never really liked Catan mainly because its 3 player and because of the trading involved. If you have a player who is not interested much in trading then the game is boring just like monopoly

@@Physiology-E-Paathshala i remember the first time i played with a strategic trader. Someone asked for brick, and the guy looked at the board and said "You can't make brick. So no, i'm not going to trade it to you." Harsh, but made a lot of sense.
Is Concordia fun?
