Great video! I can now teach this game confidently. One thing to note is that when a player draws cards at the end of their final turn, they do not get to level up a card. Page 22, GAME END section, 1st paragraph: "Each player should still draw new cards as normal at the end of their final turn. These cards can be used in any battles, but cannot be leveled up." I'd have to assume this also means you can't level up a card that is still in your hand because you didn't play it on your final turn.

Unfortunately, i had to ship out my copy of the prototype, so i can't confirm or deny any rules discrepancies - all i can say is that since the vid was sponsored, AEG and the designer himself both watched it and gave their approval. But it's possible they or i missed something, or that the rules have been tweaked since the prototype stage. Maybe someone else can chime in and corroborate?

24:12 - The phrasing here was a bit confusing so I clarified in the rules. Only the player who's cube is there gets the plunder - just both the winner and the loser of the battle is eligible to get plunder if their cube hits the space.

I don't know if I'll ever play this game... too many in my backlog. Also, pretty aggressive and that tends to lead to an unhappy wife. She is not a fan of confrontation, even something as simple as hate drafting in Azul.... multiplayer solitaire or co-op ONLY really, sadly. Partially because I tend to be better at games than she is (not sure why, she's smarter than I am!) - it probably doesn't feel good being on the losing end as frequently, so I totally get it. Anywho, rant over. Just commenting to saying that I'm listening through, liking, and commenting just to help you with the algorithms even though I'm not directly interested, but I want to support your efforts!

Thank you so much for all your help! It matters. This definitely isn't a great game for people who don't like confrontation, but interestingly, when i played with the designer John D Clair, he spent a lot of time attacking the non-player ships. PvP didn't happen until the end of the game. i wonder if your wife would like Roll for the Galaxy? My wife really likes it, and the "player interaction" is extremely minimal... it's more about predicting your opponents' moves than it is about blocking them.

13:13 - You state that you can updgrade one of the cards "you just drew" - The rules state that you can upgrade one sailor card "in your hand". You can carry over cards from turn to turn so I am pretty sure you can choose to upgrade one of the cards you held from previous turns, not just the cards "you just drew". It's a small thing, but based on the way you worded I would think I could only upgrade the cars I just drew into my hand. Can you please clarify.

@GZUZRULES That it the rule for sleeving cards, but the comment was about upgrading cards. And I think this person is right, you can upgrade any card in your hand, so you could keep the same card for a few turns and upgrade it to the 4th level before playing it.

Hi, DeafArch! This one IS subtitled, but you may just be watching it too early. These particular videos are scripted, so it's easy for me to upload a transcript. What's missing are timecodes, so i have to select a certain option to tell KZbin i'm submitting "without timing" - and then presumably, KZbin chugs away in the background fitting my submitted captions to the audio to work out the timing. How long does that process take? It's anyone's guess! Let me loop back tomorrow to see if captions are still missing, and if they are, i'll take action! (And thanks so much for sharing my videos with your community! That means a lot to me. Captioning my unscripted videos - like the unboxings - is tedious and takes HOURS, so it's nice to know someone is benefiting from that extra effort.)

I believe when you sink you lose ALL coins on your ship... if less than 5 make up the difference from your chest

I don't believe that is entirely correct, sir. According to the rules - if you have 5 or more, you lose all the coins. If you have LESS than 5 coins on your ship - you _keep the ones on your ship_ and lose 5 from your treasure chest which seems a bit odd thematically, but that is what the rulebook says (bottom of page 21 - "Sunken Ships")
