If any one has longer nails or even rings, can make the game bloody. My nails weren't overly long but my opponents tended to lose some skin on the slap

Used to play this game all the time in high school 20 years ago and I was recently reminded of it. Glad to find your tutorial! Now that I'm reminded of the rules, I realize that if it wasn't for the slapping element, the outcome of this game would be automatically determined as soon as the cards were dealt.

Went to camp over summer, some kid brought a deck of cards, luckily our counselor knew about this game, called it Egyptian war, once he got everyone in our group hooked, that was the only game we played with those cards. It became extremely competitive at the end of the week, and our counselor learned all the tricks, even to the point of memorizing everyone’s decks playing. Took that game home and showed my brothers.

My friends added a new rule, you can slap the middle pile of you have any combination of 10 (ace + 9), (2 + 10), (3 + 7), (4 + 6), (5 + 5), etc...

Love playing this game with my other siblings. Max of 4 but usually 3 players for me. We either do it at home and the one who loses has to pay for dinner or at a booth just waiting for our meals to come. At times with the slapping it tends to be a bit loud and may seem like we're an angry group slamming the table rattling the plates and silverware. xD

I used to play this game with my friends on lunch in high school. This game can get really intense and there would be like 8 16 year old dudes screaming and throwing their backpacks around in the cafeteria. Great game, great times.

When I used to play, we would use the bottom card rule, and I had this one friend who would always cheat by finding 2 cards then slipping one under the deck and then playing the matching one when he wished. When we slapped with the real bottom card, he would say it's the wrong card, and we'd check and he'd be right. It took us years to catch him lol.

My friend used to do this too until we called him out for it and told him he wasn't allowed to play unless he stopped cheating.

Learned this game at camp. It was weird since no matter where I went if I mentioned this game someone would always know it also. I generally played with 2 non standard rules. First was the run mentioned in the video but we played runs of 3 were a slap. Second was an interesting rule called Jack-2, 6-9. Basically if Jack and 2 or a 6 and 9 were played after each other in either order (but not a sandwich) the pile was slappable. Both rules were to make the game a little fairer. 6-9 was a thing since it might be hard to tell whether the card was 6 or 9 during a fast game. with people at all different orientations. Jack-2 was to weaken Jacks. Due to having only 1 chance with them Jacks can be very hard to take away from a player so this rule increased the chance that they could be taken.

I've really only played the first rule, but i've perfected the 'submarine slap' and you dont have to be dealt to slap in. As of this comment, if you are in the West Des Moines, IA area, I challenge you. Play whatever rules, just clip your nails. I will win.

I’m thinking that people who called it something other than Egyptian Rat Screw had whoever taught it to them try to make the name ‘nicer’ and not crude. My husband did that with our kids and a game called Screw Your Neighbor. He tells them it’s Help Your Neighbor. Lol

I thought when one player puts down a face card, Ace, or a Joker that it isnt just the next player that gets a choice its if the next player FAILS to play something needed to stay the next person has to as well and if they dont the next person does. Whoever does, the player who started the face goes only with the person who survived while the others are out unless they slap and end it, until the next time after someone gets the pile. But idk

In a scenario when you can slap and someone goes to grab the pile because they won it and they have their hand on the pile but didn't slap it, but somebody else slaps it before that person can pick it up (but still has their hand on it), who wins the pile? Sorry if I worded it weirdly, this happened while I was playing with a friend and we couldn't agree on what happens.

In this scenario, the player that had his/her hand on the pile before the slap would be awarded the cards.
