Whenever I dip into Wizard I usually go for support or utility spells since I'm sure most other wizard players wanna go BIG Bada-Boom, so having someone who can make sure the party can survive/escape said Bada-Boom is always nice.

I kind of find that dealing just damage with my spells as a wizard is pretty boring (we're online so I don't get to roll a big handful of dice) when I could instead cheese a single boss with just multiple castings of tasha's hiddeous laughter or shutdown a large group of enemies with hypnotic pattern so the rest of the party can execute them. I've also not seen a reason to not take the difference between prepared & known spells (ignoring spells you learned from scrolls) in rituals.

Wizard really provides all the “control” spells a character like this would need... I would probably take that optional TCoE feat, “Artificer Initiate”, to gain access to the “Thorn Whip” and “Sanctuary” spells (they can similarly be flavored as the Wizard lashing out with bandages to pull / meddle with enemy attack rolls. “Sanctuary” would also recharge the Arcane Ward (no concentration, too). Also a bonus action. Also protect your allies further. “Artificer Initiate” also has the nifty benefit of turning “tools” into your spellcasting focus...you could then flavor “Weaver’s Tools” as your bandages. Alternatively, one could go “Bladesinger”: cast the “Thorn Whip” or “Shocking Grasp” cantrip AND wallop them as well...mix with the “Mobile” feat or “Misty Step” spell to showcase Aizawa’s speed.

Counterspell can be upcast to automatically shut down a spell less than or equal to the spell slot used, so if you REALLY need to, you can cast Counterspell at level 9 to guarantee that it won't happen; that will obviously eat your spell slot and lock you out of Foresight, but Kill only requires that you see a target. No roll, and Foresight only affects rolls. So if a bard tells you to die, just use the slot to say no, then immobilize them on your turn.

I Knew it was going to be wizard heavy with the need for counterspells and such, but I was honestly expecting at least a decent dip into monk as thats really how eraserhead defeats everyone. The dude is NIMBLE and hits like a prize fighter. Shut down the quirk for a second, exploit the moment of shock, TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! Then move on to the next enemy and repeat.

Dude. I really like how you do your ad reads. The best ones that I'm forced yo watch on KZbin are the ones that aren't basically the same thing over and over again. You actually do something fun with them. It actually makes them not a chore to wait through. I've seen a few others do this on their channels. But a lot of stuff I see is usually them just reading off of a page so it's literally the same words every single time. I used a very similar spell list for a build based on Jinzo from Yugioh. Warforged Wizard 17/ Artificer 3. The Armorer Artificer levels were for heavy armor, Con save proficiency (taken at first level), and a way to keep attacking with Intelligence when Anti-Magic Zone is up. I had initially went with War Magic Wizard since Power Surge gave you extra benefit from Counter Spell and Dispel Magic, but I had forgotten about Improved Abjuration, making that an objectively better Jinzo subclass.

I can see why you took Wizard as far as you did, and Aizawa definitely needs Wizard 15 for that Anti-Magic Field, but I didn't expect the tape to be mostly spells. That’s probably a triton or some fishy-looking custom lineage dude. Make an aberrant mind/psionic soul sorcerer and go for low HP/low CON. Make sure to grab true polymorph for eraser antics. If you want, multi into GOOlock and pick the Man in the Planet as your patron for flavor.

One extra spell (though it makes it so you aren’t around for counterspell), that I’ve thought is really underrated is the 3rd level spell blink. I’m playing a dodge tank/nova cleric/sorcerer/paladin in RotFM, with a 22 base AC and up to 29 with shield of faith and shield, but it’s come up a few times when the DM asks for a save I can just say “yeah I’m not there right now”. And it’s not concentration. Chose it over haste on that build and I don’t regret it. The Nova side is divine smite and also lightning bolt with the tempest cleric channel divinity.

If that one level of monk is worrying people for the low damage, feel free to replace it with a level of Fighter and take the Unarmed Fighting style, or swap one of the later ASIs (depending on how you rolled) for the feat to give the fighting style and give a d8 dex punch. Though that's being picky since that's not what this build is for Fun fact, I actually was wanting to make an unarmed fighting abjuration wizard for my friend's Phandelver game soon, so this helps out a lot!

Love the jokes here, as always, but what I really like is the lore additions. Aizawa the "Grumpy Dad" is the funniest thing I've heard today, and perhaps all week. That magic missile + mage slayer combo is brilliant. Auto damage, and even if it is only 2 points, it still causes a DC 10 Concentration check, at dis-advantage. What makes it even better, if they try to block with Shield, that triggers an attack of opportunity.

I'm pretty sure Mage Armor doesn't stack with a monk's Unarmored Defense. You can't have two overlapping AC calculations. I kind of had that explained to me when I wanted to make a Dragon Sorcerer / Shadow Monk.

It might not be RAW, but I would allow it in my campaign, because I don't see a reason why not in-universe wise. Other overlapping AC calculation restrictions make sense: You can't use DEX mod with heavy armor because the armor slows you down, or the armor gets in the way of your martial arts. You can't use a shield with defensive duelist because the two involve different techniques, which can't be used at the same time. I understand the mechanical reason of "You can't have two overlapping AC calculations". It is a balance of mechanics, and to keep the calculations more streamlined and easy to keep track of. But I find that unsatisfying. Why not, using in-universe reasoning? Just re-flavor it as being a "Ki barrier". The player would have to take a level in Wizard or Sorcerer, or the Magic Initiate feat, and I think that is enough of a price if all they want is a little higher AC. What do you think? Does this make sense? I'd like to have a civil discussion regarding character creation, if you want to, of course.
