super awesome- but the hard part to make it funky is to get that rhythm thing right.

Good lesson Ryan. Shows that you don't need to play millions of 16th notes to be funky. I kept hearing a sliding double stop by a half step below that would work too 🙂

Thanks so much, and yes, you can totally be super funky without a million 16th notes ;-)

Thanks for another great tip Ryan, & for challenging us to be musicians AND bass players! Would that Flat7 + 3rd be considered an 'inversion' of the E Dom7 chord? Or just a fragment? Or does it matter? ..."I could play that all day" =😎
@RyanMadoraMusic4 жыл бұрын
I'd say the terminology doesn't matter as much. But yes, it technically is a fragment of a chord (just two notes) and without the root note, it may help to think of it as an inversion. But really, just know that you're defining the E7 chord.

I'm so happy to have found this channel! I just got your TrueFire course, which is beautifully produced, articulate, and so helpful for a guitarist (of 50 years) starting to double on bass.

Still trying to get my head around the figure at the end of the form you played around 0:40.
