I've played TG my whole life, and I'm really glad I've found an instructor who is exploring it in depth. Keep up the good work.

Excellent Rob. Not know how to read after 60 years of playing I enjoy your comments. Easy to follow by listening and memorizing the hand movements. Doesn't involved counting. Just feel. Which I feel every drummer should have before tech playing reading and absolutely no feel for the rhythem and/or feeling from the heart.

Very cool, for extra credit, listen (and play) your fir.st exercise 2 ways. 1 = hi-hat is on 1 and 3. 2 = hi-hat is on 2 and 4. All sticking/footing is exactly the same. just where you listen for/put the 1

Rob Brown’s teaching approach is the best I’ve come across, and there are plenty of drum instructors out there. He has a laid back down to earth attitude with some classic humor! Keep up the great work Rob!

Hi Rob! AWESOME VIDEO! Just one question, why would you wanna lift the stick with your ringfinger instead of letting it bounce up from the automatic rebound and then use the first finger and thumb to control the bounce, just like your doing. Thank you for all your AWESOME videos man. Kind Regards, Robin

Hi Rob! Thank you very much for your traditional grip videos. I've definitely learned a lot. I saw the video where you said that you hold the stick a bit back now... My question is, with that in mind, can you do a video about switching from traditional to matched for rim clicks and from matched for rim clicks back to traditional? I think its another challenge hard core traditional grip players face. Its easier to switch when playing bebop because one has time to switch because bebop isnt backbeat oriented, but when i play 2 and 4 on the snare for pop music, i usually get back late...

Awesome lesson as always. Had a quick question I was thinking about what's your opinion on home modifications to cymbals?
@RobBeatdownBrown7 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Molloy I say never toss a cracked cymbal until you start experimenting with it. Stack it, drill it, smack it up, flip it, rub it down. I don't really mess with new cymbals though. Don't trust myself enough to not screw it up

I really dig the faith not fear tag man. Hey Rob when your drum stick got a haircut did it change the handling characteristics of the stick lol. Anyway, my question is, can you use the right, left, left, foot (RLLF) four note jazz thing from your other video for practicing ghost notes too?
@RobBeatdownBrown7 жыл бұрын
+Ross Rinkenbaugh Abso-friggin-LOOTley. That'd be another really effective one. I'd probably end up flip-flopping between the two of them. There's a slick drum lick in there somewhere 😉

Rob, been playing for 38 years now. I'm a decent player , work on rudiments and poly rhythms since I was 13 but finger control in true match grip just doesn't seem to be working out. I tried French grip and wound up having to have carpal tunnel surgery 6 months into it . Got any suggestions? Can you develop finger control in match grip ?
@RobBeatdownBrown7 жыл бұрын
+Tracy Gilley You sure can. There's a very detailed video on my channel called 'How To Develop A Killer Matched Grip' that should answer all your questions. Check it out.

Rob Brown , checked it out . Great vid as always! Think I really need to work on keeping my thumb on top or on the side as I play palms down . I have to admit I'm still working on that French grip. It does have its advantages. Thanks a lot , God bless
