amazing as always, what amazes me when a lot of people talk about grace and maybe it's people who don't play guitar but its the lack of credit Jeff gets as a musician, he gets praise and rightly so for being an amazing song righter but I always fel people never truly give him his due as a guitarist, and lets just add to the fact that he's singing at the same time, almost always perfectly too (from the live recordings I've heard) a true loss that went far too soon. More Jeff Buckley is what I say

Jeff’s Telecaster was actually a 6 string. His chrome/mirror pickguard gave the illusion of a 12 string.

Great video lesson. In regards to that chord that ring out at the end of the intro, just place your thumb over the E A & D string and strum, while the notes ring pull back on the neck several times while holding the body to create that slight warble effect. Check the actual Grace Video for more clarification

Jeff played the Middle 8 interlude without his index finger on the D string. The rest of the chord shape is correct. It sounds much better and correct with just the bar shape on all of the strings and the pinky finger on the G string.
@LetsPlayAll3 жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks for the info mate!
@MojoPin19833 жыл бұрын
@@LetsPlayAll Sorry, I meant to say that Jeff didn't place his *ring* (not index) finger on the D string. He just barred all the strings (with his index, of course) and had his pinky on the G string.
@LetsPlayAll3 жыл бұрын
@@MojoPin1983 cool, do you mean for the verse?
@MojoPin19833 жыл бұрын
@@LetsPlayAll No, the final interlude, starting around the 16:08 mark of the video. You have the correct chord shape, just don’t fret D string with your index finger. In other words: remove your ring finger from the chord, entirely. It should be played like this (first chord): e 1 B 1 G 3 D 1 A 1 D 1 Keep the same shape as you ascend and descend the fretboard throughout the interlude.

tricky one, especially the right hand too (in this case). Maybe you should have explained how to strum the strings, they re not played from up to down, some strings are played down to up (I dont know if you understand) especially the intro, the E string. and this is what makes this song great. I tried to play it with the tabs, I did, but it didn't sound good . So thanx to this video it will be good now :)
@ronnienes3 жыл бұрын
I don’t THINK it’s a 12 string. I thought the same from a few videos but I think the scratch plate was just quite mirrored and created that illusion. Maybe just the reverb and chorus gives it that sound? Open to being wrong.
