In this quick guitar lesson for beginners, I run through the basics of playing the guitar "power chord". The power chord is perhaps the most versatile and useful chord shape that you can learn in order to play contemporary rock/pop/metal music. As a beginner, after you've completed this lesson and implement proper practice you will be able to play power chords easily and will learn a bit about its music roots.

Hi, I am trying ro play certain songs but it does not sound good with power chords on acoustic. Is there a way to easily translate power chords into open chords? I read somewhere that one can translate it directly into the normal chord, like F5 = F but it does not sound right. I am searching for those. Can be standard tuning and no capo. C5 Ab Eb5 G5 Bb5 B5 A5 F5 Can some advanced player help me out? Thanks!
@GuitarZero2Hero
@GuitarZero2Hero 6 жыл бұрын
You can but you need to understand a little more about keys and Music theory so it depends. F5 might actually be a Fm and not a F major! So you have to try to figure out the key of the song then use the chords that are available to you in that key

are you meant to not hit the other strings? or mute them or something? kinda confused here, especially with the chords where the root note isn't on the E string
@GuitarZero2Hero
@GuitarZero2Hero 8 жыл бұрын
+MrC00lbeans That's correct, you should only be plucking the strings that you're fretting. As you get better you will learn how to be able to mute the other strings properly but if you're starting out i suggest you concentrate on only strumming the necessary strings. For example, where the power chord root note is on the A string you should not be plucking the E string. Hope this helps!

Electric guitar is easier to learn but if you're just starting out i recommend acoustic guitar because it's harder and you will easily get used to the strings and will get calluses. And when you see your progress, it's your choice if you will move to electric guitar :)
