@iannuages Hi Ian, thanks for your input, this is one of those things that is not very easy to put in words but is best "explained" by hearing it. But in essence, the combination of a strong grip on the left hand and proper speed and fluidity on the right hand produce a deeper, more bass filled sound that has a certain crunch to it when playing chords. If you listen carefully to the Django in Rome recordings of 1949 you can hear it clearly when Django comps.
