FAQ: Standing Up with an enemy clarification. The wording of the ule is a little difficult to grasp fully. Would it be possible to clarify what exactly happens when a pinned model tries to get up in a cube were an enemy is present? The 'opposing player' terminology is what tripped us last night. We have 2 red spartans, one pinned, one standing and a standing blue spartan. 1) The pinned red spartan activates and stands up. 2) The blue spartan can make an Assault action. 3) The blue spartan targets the standing up Red Spartan (gaining +1 die for the pinned status) 4) The red spartan rolls 3 dice as Survive Test Is that the correct sequence of play? In step 2, could the Blue spartan attack the other Red Spartan? If yes, what would the standing up spartan do?

I’m not sure I fully understand the situation but if I’m right… 1) the pinned red Spartan activates. Stands up as its first action, and then can’t assault (as it’s a long action) and so ends its activation. 2) The blue Spartan activates and makes a long Assault action on the Red Spartan. They would not get the +1 bonus for attacking a pinned model as the red Spartan is no longer pinned (due to them standing up on their activation). The Red Spartan would gain a bonus die for having another friendly model in the cube so would defend with 4 dice survive test (assuming no one is injured which would add more dice to either sides dice pool).

@@manticgames I will need to re-read the manual. I had the impression that a spartan standing up from pinned in a cube with an enemy, would automatically trigger the enemy attack

Everyone is new so that’s why the basics are worth clarifying at this early stage.

Any plans to sell those elites from the spartan edition as a separate team? I'm trying to have two of each unit for my playgroup

All of the minis currently just in the Spartan Edition box will be available separately in time. We're starting that with Fireteam Hydra, coming in Q1 2025!

wait so i can move, shoot THEN move again for a charge?!
@manticgames18 күн бұрын
Not unless you have a command die giving you an extra cube of movement you can’t. You can do 2 short actions or 1 long action in a turn and you can’t do the same short action twice. So you could shoot (first short action) and then move into the cube with an enemy (for your second short action) which would trigger a free fight action for moving into your enemy. You couldn’t move, shoot and then move as this would be 3 actions.

@@manticgames so in this game theres no strict phases because usually you move before shooting so i could choose to shoot then move as in a charge?

Kill Team has spoiled me with its interactive melee combat, where both models fight. It looks like, in Halo, the active player has a big advantage.

Think of it more in terms of how the Halo video game plays. It's not a game where you stand toe to toe trading blows. It's more a case of running up behind someone and hitting them. The defender gets the chance to defend themselves and try to either reduce the damage or save themselves completely which will then leave the attacker in a vulnerable spot!
