Thanks so much for this video! I came back to guitar this year after a 20 year hiatus, diving right into The Moffatts/Music Travel Love and Green Day! Sometimes going back to the basics is necessary as I am prepping for a children's lesson demo. I think the finger picking here will really help me build the foundation to mastering the finger picking to If Life is So Short and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). Currently there isn't a good tutorial online for If Life, and it has been more challenging than it should be to learn it by ear.

This was the first song taught myself by ear because I couldn’t find any good tutorials. I played the melody in single notes because I didn’t know a lot of chords, and played it on 2 strings. I think now that I know chords and can sing while playing, I will learn to play the first version here for next time!

There's no way to do that. But you can get a chord dictionary, hardcopy, online, or an app. The best way to learn music is only to learn what you need right now; otherwise you learn a other of things you will never need.

Quick tip guys wilth the same 3 strum patter you can do another chord which is g7 so it goes like this G D D G G7 C And G To D To G that's it enjoy I hope it helps 😋

"new to guitar and impress" . trust me strumming, chords usage and other things are not an issue. Its this chord switching speed. thats something new-to-guitar and impress folks wont be able to do at all. without smooth chord switching its all messed up.
