dude I fucking love you.. I almost killed myself trying to learn this intro riff even though it's simple.
@mc12358 Жыл бұрын
Deceptively simple! Dime starts out getting pinch harmonics in some places that are nearly impossible to get them. Then completely shreds that opening gallop riff at I think somewhere I read 170+ bpm like its nothing. And I'm not sure he plays that riff the exact same way every time, pretty sure he just put some Texas on it and shredded it to pieces. If you (not directing at OP but jist anyone in general, especially beginners like me) haven't built up speed in your picking hand, this song is going to be way too fast to start with. I would go back to something a little less intense like The Trooper by Iron Maiden and build from that.
@jakebriscoe Жыл бұрын
@@mc12358 those are natural harmonics. think of your frets in decimals to really dial them in, like not fret 3, but fret 2.3 and 2.7 for example.
@mc12358 Жыл бұрын
Also ive seen tabs that go from the G to the A (5th fret) then back to G and then the gallop between E and F# (open and second fret). G and A-flat doesnt sound quite right to me, although I'd need to time stretch it to really try and dissect how Dime played that opening rirff. You're obviously well ahead of me as a player, just my observation not criticizing. Thank you for posting this lesson.

can you try to throw it on your picking hand each time just once after you show each fretboard demo so i can kind of get a pull off what's going on bro? I appreciate your lessons dude, and have learned a few tunes/licks from you already. I need to see the picking hand on the galloping shit. Are you alternate picking or what?

That's how it should be. It's better than explaining each finger on each string on each fret on every chord that any intermediate guitarist should know.
