The 1st time I've made a sense of what I'm hearing with Mitch Mitchell! 😁

Thank you so much for making this song playable for me. I played it with my jam buddies last week and it was a hit! I'm no Mitch Mitchell, but we managed a good sounding version for 20 minutes. So much fun working with rudiments and making the fills my own. I know you're very fond of Mitch, but I curious about your thoughts on Ginger Baker. I really like his playing as well. I was born in the sixties if you can't tell. Thanks again Joe !

That's brilliant to hear, thanks so much. Especially since you used what you learned 🙏😁 Ginger was a real character wasn't he 😊

@@Joethedrummer Indeed. Beware of Mr. Baker certainly showed that!

Hey Joe! Don't know if you remember me but I used to get lessons from you in Ebony & Ivory back around 2005 (ish). It's great to see you're still going and doing your thing! I don't get to play to much drums anymore due to lack of space (and understanding neighbours) in my cruddy flat, but I still hold onto all the things you taught me whenever I get the chance to play. I'm mostly playing guitar at the moment as it's a bit more flat-friendly, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the knowledge and skills you imparted to me as a jacked-up teenager. My Twitter handle is the same as my KZbin username if you need to look it to put a face to a name :) Keep rocking my friend! Much love!

Hi Chris, I do remember you. Great drummer. Sorry you've not been able to keep it up. I guess guitar is an ok second best 😜. I'll look you up on twitter. Thanks for checking this out 😁

I like this approach. Trying to play it like Mitch Mitchell only agitates and frustrates the less gifted drummer like me.

I'm glad you found it helpful. While it can be fun to imitate the ledgends of yore, it's not always practical to acquire all their exact skills and vocab. And it's not obligatory to do so in order to play something well. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves sometimes 😁

@@Joethedrummer I agree. His playing on that song is a masterpiece, something very could few could ever imitate.

Unfortunately I don't have sheet music for this. The object of the video is more about the concepts of learning to improvise.
