This was very helpful for me. I was using the corner of my thumb nail area instead of the mid-line area. I had a lot of trouble from high B and higher.

Hi, Your technique works really good on high E, F, G and A on my soprano recorder, Baroque fingering. Thanks! But when I try to get high B , C and D, most of the time it doesn’t work. Is there any special thumb or breath technique that you use for high B C and D? Thanks! Greg

Instead of just rolling the thumb back as shown here, try placing your fingernail inside the edge of the thumb hole. Your thumbnail must be pretty short. Looking at the back of your thumb, I'd call it about the 10:00 position on your thumbnail that I use for this. This is called "pinching," and you can see other KZbinrs like Sarah Jeffery demonstrate it. Not all recorders have equal response in the high range - some just don't work well for it. But the thumbnail technique can give more consistent results.
