You are the only person that has really explained "both" harmony parts well in a tutorial and especially the bit about how Felder's video shows him playing it differently now. I skipped ahead to see how you handled it. Thanks, can't wait to get deeper into this lesson now!

Thank you! Very well done. Here's an approximate time-frame of your lesson; it helped me know where to "take my bites" in order to swallow this beast! SOLO Don Felder #1 00:00 to 11:25 Joe Walsh #1 11:26 to 18:06 Don Felder #2 18:07 to 20:35 Joe Walsh #2 20:26 to 21:39 HARMONY Felder 21:40 to 27:20 Walsh 27:21 to END . Again, many thanks!!

By far the best player and teacher not just for this song but for others as well, i mean you play it so smooth. I've watched some of your videos and it made me want to play electric guitar. I've been playing Acoustic for a while now but i feel like an electric guitar would be a lot more fun. Is there any tips you could give me maybe? Just to avoid some beginner mistakes. I heard that Epiphone Les Paul Standard is one of the best at the price range of $300-500. Cheers!

Jeremiah Palad Thanks for the nice comment Jeremiah! AS far as guitars go, my advice would be to go into a well stocked guitar shop and play as many guitars as you can, take your time and IGNORE ALL SALES PEOPLE! Don't listen to the BS, and don't look at price tags! Find the guitar that speaks to you and then see if you can afford it! Good luck and thanks for watching. cheers

At part 16:04 I think most people have not experienced bending 2 string at once before (myself included). I found that the best way is to use your index finger to hold down the b string while your other 2 fingers bend the e string so that when you do bend, the b string goes nicely underneath your ring finger. This also sets it up nicely when you come down from the b string. This could've been explained more in the video rather than just saying it's difficult which helps no one.

Great lesson! Been playing my own rough version since the late 70s, and finally decided to learn it the real way which I found out was so much different (back then, we did the play, stop, and rewind on a tape player). After 2-3 weeks using this video I learned it. Could have been quicker except I had to stop after 45 minutes ever day on the first week or so to allow healing time due to soreness from bending strings, and I keep conflicting with the old way I used to do it, that pops up unexpectedly while playing this version. Same thing with Stairway to Heaven, which I learned here too last summer. It would probably be quicker for me to learn something I never played before.

OUTSTANDING JOB !!! You make all the other Guitar instructors sound like they are playing with one hand tied behind them.. I have ( thanks to you ) gotten almost all the way through the Hotel California Tutorial.. You make it easy for an old dude in his 60's Who is Retired, Disabled and getting back acquainted with his old Epiphone les paul and I was wondering if you have gotten around to Figuring out " That Smell" yet.? and if so, could you go through it step by step. I have the rythym down pretty good but am struggling with the lead parts , Thanks again for all the good work.. A J

I view myself as an intermediate at this point, not sure because I've been teaching myself to play guitar and I recently bought my first electric (had an old acoustic first to learn the basics). So I started learning this solo and man this one makes you master those bends. I thought I had a good grasp on bends, but this is a whole new level. Not that I didn't get the pitch right on my bends, I did those right but just the amount of fast bends and the switching (like what you do at 12:20) I just kinda sucked at that but this helps me learn those. Thanks man :D I love these kind of videos, especially since I kinda suck at reading tabs lol. I've always prefered doing it by ear, even when I was younger and played the piano. reading the notes was just meh, but once I memorized it I could just repeat it over and over and learn to play it faster that way.

That bending part where you think another guitar is playing that i don’t believe there is. Either it is a punch in ,or, as i do it and sounds very close, you use a second finger for the second bend. So i first bend with the ringfinger, drop, and quickly bend again with the middlefinger.
