Thank you for this video , I just inherited three Gurdies and would love to make it to Gurdyworld in New Hampshire the end of the month , Sergio sent me some good information for the event .Being from Quebec, I am not sure the border will let me through with three Gurdies,they might think I am trying to sale them I am affraid, well see . I am a music teacher and luthier and will be looking forward to building my first Hurdy Gurdy, I teach violin and guitar, it will be really great to meet you all at the gathering :o) Merci , thanks again for all the tips here now I am already learning so much , you are a great teacher !

Holy smokes! Three gurdies! It would be great to meet you at the workshop. I don't think you would have a problem crossing the border with three instruments, because you are just bringing them to show us and for advice. 🙂

Hmm... I watched part 4 first, then came to this one because most of the way through that I was wondering what notes you have on the keyboard. Where is that covered? Although I watched you play a scale, I couldn't see which keys you were playing. Is it fully chromatic? Are the black parts also keys?
@noelle-beaudin5 ай бұрын
Sure. If you go back and watch the first 3 videos in the series, the keys, note names and placement are all covered specifically. Yes, the HG is chromatic, although there are some diatonic HGs out there, this video series covers the G/C chromatic HG specifically.

@@noelle-beaudin Okay. Thanks. I've watched 1 and 4, so far. This is what I find frustrating about video learning vs something written where I can try to skip through to find what I want to know, then go back. I find it hard to sit through something like this hoping it will get to the point I wanted to know about.
@noelle-beaudin5 ай бұрын
@@TooSlowTube I know, it is a pain. It sounds like you need Part II the most - and in the liner notes of the video there are markers for the places you can skip ahead to. If you need specific help, just book a time with me on deathbygurdy.com and I can help you out 🙂
@TooSlowTube5 ай бұрын
@@noelle-beaudin Thanks. The last two thirds of part three were more what I was looking for. The black keys are hard to see in a video, so I wasn't clear if there were notes on black keys between the ones you were playing - and initially I thought only the white keys were keys, then switched to thinking only the black ones were. Might I suggest a labelled close up diagram of the keyboard, on your website? As someone who's never actually seen a hurdy gurdy, other than on KZbin, that's the part that was least clear, to me.

@noelle-beaudin2 ай бұрын
This is why we're trying to put information out there for everyone that is easy to find and understand. As far as instruments go, there's actually two very good immediate options. The Linotte from Nerdy Gurdy and the Trigo from MM Instruments. Both very affordable and you can get them within a 3 months shipped safely directly to you.

I want to learn but do not have 1500$ it’s sad the price barriers for instruments can keep so many people away

You actually do not need that much $ to start. There are some excellent and very affordable options that are listed here: gurdyworld.com/gurdyblogs/cheap-hurdy-gurdies/ :-) Good luck, at least you don't want to learn bassoon - entry prices for that instrument are ~$4300 ;-)
