Chet Atkins once said the most important thing about learning to play guitar is to play entire songs, not just learn iconic riffs or song intros. These videos should be helpful to new learners to master a tune front to back and steadily build a play list of songs. Each song with a new skill. This is a good one for the country waltz boom-chuck-chuck. Thanks!

Great lesson, especially to emphasize the simple strum pattern of the great Hank Williams song. Do you mind a request from an ol' Hank fan for his song that I think is even more sad "ALONE AND FORSAKEN". Brilliant words but can you show the key, chords and the key change from minor to major for the chorus? In all of you tube, I can't find any instruction for this great Hank Williams song, which I know isn't particularly difficult to demonstrate in your wonderful style! MAny, Many thanks from an pensioner in the United Kingdom who loves your instruction methods, both on this and on "Blue eyes crying in the rain" with the great Willie bass runs that are instantly recognizable. All the love and best wishes from the U.K., Alan.

Thanks a lot Kevin, I don't have too many patients sometimes especially now that I'm trying to learn how to play guitar. I have to say you have been very helpful with your strumming pattern to this song. I love Hank Williams and I sing his songs Karaoke style but I've decided I want to upgrade my abilities a little by learning a couple of his songs on guitar before I eventually pass away this song seems pretty simple I just need to learn my coordination especially with trying to sing as I play. I hope to get it figured out soon thanks a lot for your help i really appreciate it I've checked out other teachers but so far they haven't been very helpful.

Strumming is something I need a lot of work on. I find myself counting beats in my head, which I'm sure is not ideal, but it's a way to learn. It would help (me, at least) if you illustrate the strumming motions very slowly. I find myself having to slow the video speed to 50% to see what's going on. But a great lesson. As a beginner I love simplicity that's clearly explained.

Well, you got the lyric right on this one, but you go to the B7 one bar earlier than Hank did. Any reason why you don't use the original E/A/B7 changes capoed up for singing? Wouldn't hurt.
@Relaxandlearnguitar7 жыл бұрын
Hi ozwzrd. Thanks for watching! I use a capo a lot because of my low voice. But for this beginner lesson I stuck with no capo so folks could play along with the record.
@waynearcher83247 жыл бұрын
I'm a little confused; happens all the time. I thought by putting a capo on the guitar,you raise all the notes an octave or so; why does that work for someone with a low voice? Thanks. Hey I'm old and just learning. Lol
@Relaxandlearnguitar7 жыл бұрын
Hi Wayne. You are right, a capo does change the key and move it up. With my low voice, using the capo allows me to usually start out with the melody lower so I can then reach a higher note, usually in the chorus...

It’s a D 1R. So not as adorned as the D 18. But definitely my favorite guitar. They don’t make them anymore but you can sometimes find them used. rosewood back and sides. I love the deep rich tone. Thanks for asking and for watching!
