I just randomly bursted into tears without warning and this action is very out of my character. But I just sat and I just imagined me playing this song in front of all of my friends and loved ones and asking them to put their arms around each other's shoulders while I play and just for them to sing along as i play. This very thought is what brought me to tears. John Lennon and this song is so beautiful and i thank music every day for giving me feeling and a higher appreciation of life.

This is going to be my first focused effort in learning guitar. My very first lesson and very first effort. My classic 1964 Goya G-10 guitar arrived today via FedEx. I unpacked and tuned it today using the Fender tuning app - set to chromatic scale recognition. Came out so nice. Wonderful tones coming out of this old Goya even with the simplest chords. My fingers are no where near ready but I will callous them and train them on this piece even if it takes weeks or months. I know if I perfect 'Imagine' I will not quit. I will move on to Spanish Classical and other classical music. So many songs to learn and so little patience. I am a 68 year old beginner but have played piano for 56 years. I am retired now so plenty time on my hands. I hope to play until my fingers bleed lol. Love this lesson and thank you immensely for it's marvelous presentation. I got this!!!

Just today I found out John Lennon was shot ! :( And the guy wanted to become famous easy way and he kept telling to read Catcher in the rye. Just out of curiosity, I've ordered the book straight away. The guy, during trial, read to judge the passage which protagonist reads to his sister while standing on an elevated lesge, about how all the others are just small players and if someone tries to climb the ledge, it's his job as an assumed big guy to catch them. The players may get distracted and not knowing where they are going may accidentally climb it. He also signed the book as his statement etc. And didn't resist arrest, infact he plaeded guilty and didn't use the cover of insanity which defence were trying to provide him. The extent to which sometimes people go for fame. He has been denied parole 10 times now, after serving 20 years. He was a good person otherwise, helping kids and migrants etc. Even in prison, he didn't cause any incident.

Marty, I want to thank you for this perfect guitar lesson. I imagine that you have no idea of how many people you are teaching! All of us at the same time on any given day. I am a beginner. My biggest problem is tender fingers followed by reach and fat fingers muting other strings. It is so much harder to do then it looks! You make it look so easy. I am amazed at how much pressure that I must push on the strings to get a clear note. It's ridiculous. Some of the female guitarists I watch look to have such a delicate touch and easy chord reach. But not so I am learning. The biggest hurdle for me is not giving up. I am tempted to acquire a 7/8 or 3/4 classic guitar to see if chord span is easier but I fear the fat finger muting would be even worse. Thanks again for your extremely patient style of teaching us. Best wishes in all your endeavors. Incidentally, I prefer knowing that there is a heaven and that My Heavenly Father and almighty GOD resides there!
