I played the violin for almost 2 years when I was 9, Now 10 years later I'm starting again from 0. It's been almost 4 months since I picked the violin again and even if I thought I had forgotten everything I learned as a child, I'm actually making progress really fast thanks to those two years. I'm now starting to learn how to shift in 3rd position, something I don't think I had learned the 1st time and it's really difficult, your video and your exercices helps a lot, you really explains it well, thx!

thank you so much! i started playing violin in school and am almost starting my third year as a violin player. i realized how much i loved the instrument and soon after i started private lessons coronavirus hit. i stopped playing for almost a year but i rediscovered my love for the instrument. i was starting to feel a little discouraged because i couldn’t play the pieces i wanted to without shifting. this video was so helpful! helped me teach myself and was so easy to follow along.

@@MarijkeViolin i printed The first 5 pages. To try it easy in the beginning ,and in fact it is very easy ! I started 2 week ago 3 rd position And All mind has to be rebooted as we got used to put fingers position 1. So before sleeping i do just with my finger For example : E string 1 st A note , and i trigger the finger Pronouncing A , than 2 nd B and trigger the finger … and so on it helps to know which finger moved and his number - position has to To be played i forth and back 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 In my mind ,It helped in first position so why not with third ! Take care thanks again. OH MY. !! I realized right now that in english u use the first 7 letters from alphabet for 7 notes !! I was used to Do re mi. … that complicate to memorize , but if u start From and with A la , b si , c do D re , mi f fa G sol is easier as they follow each other on the strings

I would have written the first basic exercise differently. Since we are getting used to a new fingering position, i wouldnt have used the B note in the song. since we know the basic fingering position (the way the fingers are spread out with finger 2 and 3 next to each other), That B (3 hi) is a little difficult to grasp.. I would have chosen the C, because if we have to your B.. we are not used to visualizing where that 3 hi would be way up there on the neck... sorry if you are confused. steve
