First half is in Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer, Volume 1. Coordinated Independence As Applied to Jazz and Bebop by Jim Chapin Second half is in Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed These are the "basics" of jazz drumming.
