Took me 20 days to play this intro properly. It's been almost 2 months since I started learning to play guitar. Feels nice because I thought It might take me year for this intro alone xD

Thank you for this lesson. I have been playing guitar for 7 years now. My teacher taught me the arpeggio style of playing. He was always on me for having my left thumb stick above the fretboard, much like a gopher would stick his head of a hole in the ground. He told me if you place your thumb midway behind the fretboard, it makes it easier to when you have change chords. It is the same thing you are referring to about your thumb at 1:44.

My fingers are too fat to play guitar one of my fingers covers two strings alone is there anything I can do about this is there some kind of things I can put on the end of my fingers to cover just one string instead of my fat fingers covering both strings? I really want to be able to play this song to my girlfriend on our wedding but my fingers are just too fat.

I was waiting for you to play the intro in its entirety. You could have played it at the beginning of the video and could repeat at the end. That way we would know what you are trying to teach.

and where is the beginning arpeggio? :(

This is Jim's part. It doesn't cover Maury's part.
@haroldsteinblatt25679 жыл бұрын
True, excellent teacher, but not playing intro in its entirety is a grave mistake. Could be because it's just a teaser ... On the other hand, you diminish the potential appeal of the lessons you do sell by omitting that intro and leaving some viewers disinterested. That is bad marketing and, given your skill, a pity.

Depends how much you want to learn the song, the lessons are cheap enough. I've bought loads of them from Jerry and can tell you that you will struggle to find better explained lessons anywhere else.... and accurate too!

Mine wasnt as long as well on that dm/c#, using ur ring finger for that 4th string and placing ur pinky on the 3rd string instead. Heres a cover that demonstrates this : kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6PQl5-Xds98jq8

Good instruction, but unless the song that's being taught (or at least the section of it) is played in its entirety at the beginning, these lessons are useless to me. I guess I need a real-time and real-length reference to start with. This is just me, though.

Waaaaaaay tooooooo verbose ! Just show the chord changes and picking patterns. I don need to hear how Croce does it. You take 2 videos to tutorial one song ! Really! You spent , in the opening, 15 minutes on 11/13/1959 measure.
@jefftribiano18756 жыл бұрын
You know Jerry nothing pains me more than tuning in to a video and hearing someone dive in to the song without at least playing the entire song. Being 60 I grew up listening to Jim Croce and while I haven't heard time in a bottle in a while I do remember it but what about the younger generation who've never heard of Jim Croce. You're not alone other people on KZbin do the same thing so unfortunately I cannot rate whether or not your video is good nor bad as I closed out your video immediately and will never entertain watching it again unless you change this practice. I hope this is constructive criticism.

Jerry has a business and needs to be paid for his services just like any other professional. This is a teaser for the full lesson on his web site, which has the full play though, video instruction for the entire lesson, and full tabs. It is the most complete lesson you will find for the song. If you really want to learn it, I highly recommend it. (And yes, I know you posted this four years, ago.)
