Even though Christmas is over, I keep coming back to this because it makes me so happy! I made a deal with my sister after I played your "We 3 Kings" arrangement at our special "sisters Christmas Eve" ( a tradition since we were young girls) this year, that I WOULD learn this for next year.....she's got her jingle bells standing ready to accompany me :). Thanks so much for all your great tutorials and hard work!

Great job. I love this tune. You play so effortlessly, I am inspired by your teaching and your playing and have already become better because of it. Thank you for taking the time to do these lessons. You have a great style of teaching, better than most I have come across. I am also like you, I only play by ear and cannot read tab or music very well, so this works well for me. I will be donating to your website shortly.

Thanks for the lessons, and for introducing me to Bruce Cockburn's playing. He's great. To return the favor (though you may know him already) Adrian Legg is another fantastic fingerstyle player. Player of the decade for the 90s in fact. Thanks again.

You can!
@darranedmundson15057 жыл бұрын
Agree Ted, anyone can do this ... you just have to want it. That's not meant to take anything away from Andy's playing and arranging - he's leaps and bounds above where I'll ever get to - just pointing out that Travis picking is one of those things that starts out seeming impossible and then all of a sudden starts to click.
@petroskarydis25614 жыл бұрын
It takes time. As Andy said it's advanced level. But believe me you can play like this. My advice would be to first develop your finger dexterity - play classical songs which are beautiful and have a variety of finger positions. There are plenty of tutorials on KZbin. Once you get some confidence on that then you can approach thumb independence and Travis picking. It will seem impossible at the beginning but in my case I would start learning a finger picking song - let's say I would play for an hour with a lot of mistakes but somehow when I would get back to the song after three four days without playing I would just play better. Im sure our brain is processing data and learns new information even when we don't play. So take it easy and keep coming to this technique and you will realise that every time you will improve more and more. Good luck!
