Please tell me how you get those perfect pinch harmonics!!! Especially on low strings please!!
@MZguitar2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, sorry for the super late reply! Maybe you've already figured it out, but I figure there's no harm in typing out a response anyway. Now I've made a video on nailing pinch harmonics and the points I'm going to mention are basically summarized versions of points from that video. Here's the link to that video if after reading the tips, you want a more detailed and visual explanation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haa4opiGfshgkM0 Pinch harmonics on the low and high strings can be quite challenging compared to the ones on the middle strings. They also get harder the lower or higher on the frets you go, making ones on the lower and higher frets and the lower and higher strings the most difficult to consistently execute. The first thing you want to do, is switch to the bridge pick-up. Harmonics, in general, will come out more and sustain better on the bridge pick-up as it picks-up higher frequencies better. The second thing is right hand position. Where your pick meets the strings is crucial to nailing the pinch harmonic. It's also crucial as to what the harmonic sounds like. For example, let's say your left hand is on the 12 of the G string. If you do a pinch harmonic with the pick somewhere at the bottom of the bridge pick-up(this may vary per guitar), you'll get a particular sounding pinch harmonic. If you move you're pick further down a bit, you may get no harmonic at all. In that case, there's no harmonic in that area. Bring it down a bit more and you'll get a harmonic, but it'll sound different and higher than the first one. What you want to do, is find the right area for the harmonic that's in the song, and try to keep the right hand placement in mind. The third thing is attention and exaggeration. I tend to make it a point to actively pay attention more when the harmonics come up to try to get them right. I find this to be a useful thing to do in general whenever there is something tricky in a riff or just generally a song. Basically, just FOCUS when it's time to do it. I also find exaggeration of vibrato and picking sometimes helpful. particularly for these lower&higher harmonics. Picking the strings and doing the vibrato just a little more violently.

Hi, how to get guitar sound like that, what effect gadjet and ampplifier you use?
@MZguitar Жыл бұрын
I get my sound through software called Bias FX (1). I have a preset for lead and one for rhythm that I've been using for quite a while now. I go through the details in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHavgJemh9CSZrM

DESOLATION please !! Thanks !!
@MZguitar3 жыл бұрын
Glad to help! I will definitely do Desolation. Though I may do Walk With Me In Hell before it as a Lamb Of God upload as I have a good bit of the song transcribed already from a while back. Idealistically, I'd love to do a lot more than I am right now but unfortunately I'm pressed for time at the moment.

Important question. Been playing this for years. Is most parts of the song Down picking? Besides the intro that repeats (000 653 000 856) parts like 222 3 222 3 then 00 857 00 131 3. Those parts are strictly Down picking??
@MZguitar4 жыл бұрын
Well, I wouldn't know if the guitarists themselves originally play it like that. The way I'm doing it is down picking all palm muted notes. You could get away with alternate picking some of the palm muted sections like the 1st verse and the intro to the breakdown and the breakdown. It would give your right hand a break in these sections so it can recharge.

When you get to the chords parts are you muting the second string with your second finger
@MZguitar2 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean the second part of the second and third verses which is at 2:20 in the video. These are actually called octaves. It's the two of the same notes, only one is low and the other is higher an octave. The string in between is always muted by the arch of the fretting index finger. You'll need to make sure your index finger fretting the lower note, is making slight contact with the string in between the two strings being played so that it doesn't ring out. This can get a bit tough if you are doing octaves on the lowest string in drop D, as it requires some finger twisting which makes the muting trickier.

Which part? I generally go for one guitar per section. Going for the more active or upfront one depending on the song.

what amp
@MZguitar3 жыл бұрын
I get my tone through software. I do not own an actual amp. I connect my guitar to my laptop through a Focusrite Scarlet Solo soundcard, and then it goes through an Amp & FX simulation software called Bias FX 1. I've made a video on the subject a while back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHavgJemh9CSZrM
