Jon, this is excellent. You say at the beginning that it goes through a lot of --- "Key centers." I'd greatly appreciate knowing what "key" you're teaching this song in. I know you're very busy, but if you would simply type - D - or whatever, that would be great. Thank you!

Hey Steve! Great question. This song is in the key of Am. Which is what the first chord of the verse is (2:34 secs). Usually (not always but most of the time :) ) you can look at the first and last chord of a song and that will tell you the key. This song starts off with a chord progression that is called a cycle. A cycle is when the root motion of a chord progression follows a certain interval (such as thirds or sixths) and that is what makes the beginning chord progression have that sort of run around sound through different chords. It's super fun and challenging to play through. Here is a lesson as well on how to use triads to play through the intro: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naOwlXqngqxqrNU Thanks for being a part of the tribe!

@@jonmaclennan Wow, how kind of you to reply and to offer up such detailed information. I "truly" appreciate it Jon! I'm all over it! I'm going to study up on everything you've mentioned and I'm really looking forward to spending time on the site you've provided concerning "triads." You made my day!!

i see Robbie has generously uploaded several Doors song tutorials here on the tube so there's a chance he will see this and i bet will approve of your fine lesson! I request the guitar solo from Do You believe in Magic! is there a mode that this is a good example of and how can you know that?
