Awesome video and insight! Colin Greenwood is probably my favorite bassist and I don't say that lightly. He's incredibly underrated. You do a great job of describing why he's got such a great style. Thank you!

Paul's point on him appearing and doing the right things at the right time is spot on. He's INCREDIBLY 'un-motoric', 'slow' player, yet so innovative in the same time.

Honestly I was a Radiohead fan for a very long time before I paid any attention to the bass, unless it was very obvious like on Nude for example. I feel like the most legendary songs have basslines that you don't necessarily pay attention to as an average listener, but that's because it's so perfectly crafted and played so that it becomes a part of the song and lifts the entire song to another level. Dancing Queen by ABBA is another example of a song that has an amazing bass part, but I didn't really notice it until someone pointed it out to me.

HOLY CRAP, YOU ACTUALLY DID IT!!!. Paul, I want to say thank you for all your hard work. Since I became a Radiohead fan recently, I've wanted you to do this video. It is one of your most detailed Bass Habits videos, and I can't imagine how tough it was to narrow down examples. I will be rewatching this one for sure!

I'm "old school" (Jamerson, George Porter Jr. with the Meters, Billy Cox , etc), but I like this guy! He knows Space. Thank you for spotlighting this Bass player.!

You should check some of Colins interviews. He started with classical guitar but when he was forced to take up bass his musical heros were percisely Jamerson and motown legends. Which explains his style

Nice video and insight! I know they're not as well known globally, but I think Stuart Morrows bass habits on the first 2 New Model Army albums would make a great video in this series. NMA in the early days was basically a Power Trio with Stuart taking on traditional bass duties, with melodic and rythymic flare across the entire neck.

Fantastic! Thanks Paul. Radiohead is always pushing the bounds of rock/alternative music and it's cool to see how the bass plays a role in that. Every bass player can pick up something from someone. This is such a good series! Speaking of which, I would like to recommend a Bass Habits on David J of Love and Rockets, I love his creative bass lines and how he uses the fretless bass.

👏👏👏 and Bauhaus of course. Where would She's in Parties be without that quite simple but incredibly hypnotic bass line?

Love your series, you have touched on many iconic bands that I've loved over the years. Have you ever thought about Lucas Harwood from King Gizzard? Some interesting stuff including microtonal bass!

For The National Anthem, it's actually Thom playing bass on the record with a pick. Besides that, fantastic vid!

True. He wrote the bass line when he was 16, way before Pablo Honey. And on the Ok Computer mini disc leaks the band had a more rock version of the song.
