I've hacked the guitar for 40 years, and don't have anything like your understanding of chords /scales etc. I have a degree of basic knowledge but feel that i've learned more in the last four days than I have in the last 20 years. I can play some of the greatest songs and solos, but never really understood how they were compiled. What we do have in common are the heroes...Green, Frusciante et al. Thank you.

I've learned more from Dave than any other teacher on you of the tube. Great personality and makes learning fun . Really massive kudos to you Something I've noticed about Peter Green's vibrato is very similar to Dave Gilmour's vibrato.

Joe Calandrella Great point on vibrato when you quoted, “Like it This Way”. Kirwan had a much more savage vibrato, and a bridge tone, and the differences in their mutually-stellar playing are perfectly illustrated in that tune.

Great teaching Dave, never at all dry or repetitive, and with a relaxed style. For the basic/intermediate player it is really informative packed with new ideas. For the experienced player it is thought provoking and offers a different way of looking at some things which are so familiar you lose the ability to stretch them further. As a fairly competent blues player I found the end product of all three vids was that, the more I listened, the more I wanted to get off the PC and go to the music room to play! Theory is no use in isolation and I found the way you put your theory across generated the real need to play with it in practice then and there. That's rare. Thanks!

I really like the way you explain things, Dave. Especially the touches of humor. But now I'm all stressed out and messed up. In my blocked head, I keep thinking "Rattleshake Snake" instead of "Rattlesnake Shake." Is it okay to use either since they both sound the same???... (For some odd reason, I'm now craving a big ol' Steak. Grrrr. I'm hungry.)

I imagine that your "masterclass" series focuses on the players that most inspire you and that you have studied in detail. I wonder if Billy Gibbons fits into that category somewhere. I love his playing and especially his use of squealies! Just a thought. Love both the Hendrix and PG series. I can see that Hendrix is really useful for learning John Frusciante - a bit of a fave of mine.
@thedavesimpson
@thedavesimpson 8 жыл бұрын
+gliddofglood They are indeed. Mr Gibbons has appeared on my radar a little but not enough for me to do a series on. I could probably do a few lessons though. I'll have a play and see what happens. Having a good understanding of Jimi does indeed help with playing like John. Thank you for watching.

Funny, there is so little information on vibrato .....that was awesome !! We have the same guitar heroes except my main hero is BB King . I even have a epiphone lucille that sounds very special . You should try some BB King stuff because he also uses a lot of very subtle bends which makes it very musical. Because of your videos i am saving up now for a orange CR120C ( a combo is more for the blues guys and a half stack for the rock guys ) O well Walter Trout plays a half stack too... Anyway love your videos so keep up the good work!! All the best.
