Thanks for the up-to-date info on playing Minecraft in VR. Very helpful. When I first got my headset I loaded up ViveCraft PCVR and I found it pretty amazing. A game that really captured many hours of gaming time and here I was now, IN Minecraft. I think I liked Vivecraft because I could play my world just on my PC and monitor, but at other times enter via VR. I really wish this was better supported by the devs directly, but until then, my thanks to the modders and everyone (including you) that makes this possible and gets the info out. I really should revisit this sometime.

you're missing the point - on vivecraft it literally runs from the pc, but questcraft is still standalone because it runs on the headset itself

I was also able to get bedrock minecraft to play on PCVR using stream and a command on the desktop. I love JAVA more than bedrock, but bedrock allows pc, mobile, and consoles. And I can play on my realm in VR with console, PC, and mobile players. Works great even with HD texture mods. And only the head moves freely to others with VR not the arms so maybe you can avoid a multiplayer ban? Possibly... 🤷‍♂️

note by me: if you lose connection when playing Vivecraft with the Gaming PC method check to see if your PC is on or has a display output on your monitor. If it doesnt that means you need to restart your PC AND your PC is underpowered. You most likely need a better graphics card OR a better PSU because below 750 watts may not work well. This ALWAYS happens to me. Either try to do the Sidequest method or try to do some other method that is not known.

I did the standalone version on my favorite server, and it works pretty good i didnt have enough time to mess with the settings tho so it was laggy. But, do i need to have steamvr and can i just use my regular quest 2 to play the better version?

i'm using Quest 2. So, you seem to connect with Link and just launch the Minecraft Launcher. If i try opening the game WITHOUT opening SteamVR first, it shows an error: "render setup failed openvr runtime not detected. Did you install SteamVR?" I get this even though SteamVR is installed on PC & Quest. I 'm not sure in which order should i start these: Link, SteamVR, since they have their own interfaces while using headset.

By accepting them as they show up. If you get blank screen just hit the META button, only if you get blank screen. You might not get the screen though.

I have the PC Minecraft Java and Bedrock Combo. I installed vivecraft and I am able to see my desktop through the Oculus VR. When I open Minecraft, select vivecraft and then PLAY, it tries to start then goes from a Red screen then black, and says: "Render setup failed: OpenVR runtime not detected. Did you install SteamVR?" So far what I've figured out is that you need to have SteamVR open and running to start it. I can't figure out how to actually get the "VR" part working sadly...

@@Jxnpzz I found a solution for me. If you go to gamepass, make sure you install the java version which is part of gamepass. Then login into the java edition and create a username. After that you should be able to log in on the quest.

My quest 2 only shows it's nearby in the app. It won't connect. Even though I've restarted everything and made sure it's all on the same wifi.
