According to one commenter below, certain printings of this game DO have player screens (& loan cards to signify when you take those extra 3 chips). ???? I have not been able to confirm this, but that commenter @YakovPetrovich says they had a new sealed edition which included all that stuff. My edition did not have those components and I don’t see anything on BGG about it. 🤔🤔🤔

They're actually fan-made and can be found in the files section of the Mogul BGG entry.

There is no doubt that no second edition existed! However there are 3d prints that exist that solve all of these issues

I love the idea behind this channel. I'm beyond tired of every board game channel being nothing but the "new hotness" and Kickstarters that won't be released for another two years.
@undiscovered_games2 ай бұрын
Thank you for that comment. That was my entire motivation for starting this channel, and I am finding there are lots of people out there who share your sentiment. There are way too many old games out there to discover to even think about the hot new releases!!

One of your best episodes ever! I feel like I could sit down and play the game right now without even looking at the rulebook. And on top of that you managed to convince me that I neeeeeeed to find this game. It’s right up my alley with the types of games we play. Our group loves auction games like Ra, For Sale, Modern Art, and Biblios. After watching this I’m confident Mogul would be a smash hit. Excellent presentation! Thank you for introducing me to this one!

I appreciate the kind words! Part of that is because it’s easier to make episodes about the games I love the most 🤩 I’m very passionate about this game being awesome.

Fantastic episode UDG! Great suggestions about the color blindness friendly components, publishers should really do this. Hopefully I can find a copy of this sounds! Really sounds like right up my alley! 👏😺

Thanks B7! Mogul is such a good lightweight game. Probably one of the lightest games in my top 25. But I believe it’s _that_ good. I hope you get to try it someday!! Yeah, colors & aesthetics play a big role in my enjoyment of games, not just because we have a colorblind player in our group, but also because I am a very visual person. I like to be able to see what’s going on at a quick glance.

Finally! One I have. SUSD also once raved about Mogul. Surely that missing 0.1 could be overcome by the fact that in the wooden bowl, this game contains the most stupid/ best component of all time? I'd also like to echo the comment that said this was a great episode. Just a great teach. I loved the way you expressed the squared points system better than the rule book
@undiscovered_games2 ай бұрын
Hahaha that’s a good point about the wooden bowl. I didn’t give that bowl enough love in the video 😂😂 I like the way you think. 10/10 it is!! 💪

Ooooo finally a stock game that looks fun to me! Hubby always wants me to play stock games and I don’t usually like em but this looks like one I would enjoy! Just wish it played 2 player! I still might try to find a copy for our group. It seems like it would be a hit with everyone we know. Have you had luck getting non-gamers to play this? Thanks for another wonderful episode 🤩
@undiscovered_games2 ай бұрын
Yes!! This is a family-friendly game from a rules perspective. I’m not sure how much fun kids would have with it (except for passing that bowl with the chips 😅), but yes, anyone could learn this. And I’ve played this quite a bit with my family. I just feel like gamers will enjoy it a bit more because they get to drive the game & will really get into the interactive strategies. But you might be able to get some newer players hooked on stock/train games! Paris Connection is another one of those types of games (I featured that a long time ago).

Great video again! I have possessed the German 2002 version of that game and was not convinced due to design flaws that made the game - for me - almost unplayable and more pain than fun. This version looks better. So my advice: Stay away from the 2002 edition by "Spiele aus Timbuktu" or the Japanese version from "GameField" which looks similar. But Michael Schacht? Really a good designer!
@mrdrofficer2 ай бұрын
IMO, you might be going a little hard on the 2002 edition. I find both have the same base gameplay I'm here for. That said, multiple people who have bounced off the 2002 edition I've introduced it to have enjoyed the 2015 version so your mileage may vary.
@ChristophPollmann-y3z2 ай бұрын
@@mrdrofficer You might be right, but the 2002 edition never made me wanna play that game more in order to get more mileage...

Great info! To me, the addition of that game board/depots add _just enough_ extra stuff to the game to make it work for me. It feels like they found the perfect balance of the base game mechanisms with enough new ideas to elevate it to a very nice lightweight game. I really think aesthetics play a big role too. It’s a charmer. Thanks for all the comments!

@@undiscovered_games I agree, there's no downplaying the new gameplay wrinkles and aesthetic playing a big part in people's enjoyment of the 2015 version.

@undiscovered_games Felinia is a game that gets a lot of garbage for how it looks - my old FLGS (r.i.p. Out of the Box) couldn't give their copy away, finally they clearanced it for $5 and of course I bought it! Turns out it IS a good game also great to make fun of the art. It's NEVER leaving my collection! Have you tried the OTHER Schacht No Thanks game, Smile? It brings it back to a small box card game. It's on our cell pile, because we also own No Thanks and that's just more fun. Anyway....Mogul looks super great. Whatever publisher picks it up one day needs you on the consultation team to implement your improvement suggestions!
@undiscovered_games2 ай бұрын
Yeah Felinia is a great game (although I've only played the Dragon Boats edition, and I'm pretty sure they're almost identical). It's a game I plan to feature here one day. Also, I used to have Smile but I ended up selling it before I tried it. Good info there! Also, thanks for the job referral haha ;) I would love to see a company like Playte pick this one up. It would fit right in with their small box reprints of older games.
