Can you do a list of the 10 most complex card games ? (Skill intensive ). I think Bridge, Skar , Doppelkopf, Schafkopf , what else ?
@carstenmuller81373 жыл бұрын
Austrian Tarock for sure too!
@Pokarface73 жыл бұрын
You answered your own question! Definitely Bridge and Pot-Limit Omaha (the difficult version of the more popular, No-Limit Hold'em). Note that cribbage, bridge, and PLO have also had world tournaments. Which I believe add credit to their complexity. Gin Rummy used to have championships, but I don't understand how complex is its strategy

This game can turn into a drawn out version of tic tac toe if you're not careful. There's a repeating game play loop that results in an unavoidable cascade of failure.
@reillywalker1953 жыл бұрын
Checkers can, as well. Such games are known as "futile games" since neither player can win if both players play correctly.

@@reillywalker195 I guess chess is a futile game too, I mean aren't all strategy games like this? A perfectly played game of a strategy no luck based game will always be a draw

I also know that you can win by surrounding your opponent so that they can no longer move.
@reillywalker1952 жыл бұрын
That's the other win condition, yes. It's a good one to go for if you can surround your opponent's pieces early on but still move at least some of your own pieces.
@realshinydragonite15982 жыл бұрын
True but just from my personal experience no matter how high your skill level is whenever you play, the person you're playing against is going to beat you

You can take one even if there are 3 in a row in the beginning of the game when you put down marbles, if all the other player has are 3 in the row.

As far as I know, when you move a marker, you're not allowed to return it to the place it moved from during the next turn.
@aryasuri94213 жыл бұрын
That feels so much more fair.
@reillywalker1953 жыл бұрын
That's not a rule I've ever encountered, and it takes away from one of the strategies of the game.
@sewaprolo3 жыл бұрын
@@reillywalker195 I think the opposite is true. Going back to the place you move from during the next turn completely removes any form of strategy from the game and makes it kinda pointless.
@reillywalker1953 жыл бұрын
@@sewaprolo The opposite is true. One strategy identified by Wikipedia and Nintendo is entirely based around moving one piece back and forth between four other pieces of yours to repeatedly form mills; should you attempt to set up such, your opponent should be trying to stop you. Even with the rules being so, neither player has an advantage, with the game ending in a draw if both play perfectly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_men's_morris
@austie242 жыл бұрын
And also, another way to win is by hemming your opponent in (that means they can no longer move).

@jacobburrell6136 ай бұрын
Here’s a hint: This game dates back to the Roman Empire. Romans were infamously known for their strategy to surround their opponent. Nine Men’s Morris can be seen as one circle inside another, etc etc. each disc represents one division of Roman soldiers. You defeat your opponent by surrounding them so tightly that they have nowhere to go and surrender or in the usual case of the Romans: get massacred

Not sure why everyone plays 9 men's morris. I find 12 men's morris and 3 men's morris much more strategic. The other morris games are kind of boring and repetitive, and you can very quickly find it impossible to win because of how restrictive their boards are

The explanation if correct but the name of the game is "Mühle" / Mill.
@reillywalker1954 жыл бұрын
Both names are correct. This game goes by several names including Nine Men's Morris, Mill, and Triples.
@topobadisang41293 жыл бұрын
Wow. In Botswana this game goes by either Mhele/Morabaraba. I'm guessing the "Mhele" must have been from Muhle/Mills. It's most likely Boer/Afrikaaner/Baster influenced because Afrikaans(A Germánic Language, closely related to Flemish) has had quite an influence on many Southern African languages over the past 300 years. Setswana in particular.
