Love your tutorial 😘😍 I almost get everything except for this triple CB CB CB. I watched your video so many times, just couldn't figure it out. it does not look like a C and a B to me. I just can't make it sound close to what you are playing. Please help me out and give me some pointers. Thanks and have a great day!

What fingerings were that B# when you were swapping between C# and B# toward the end of the song? It says B# is C natural but C natural doesn't sound right on that part of the song so im thinking its something else
@SaxStation Жыл бұрын
I have used the alternate C fingering before, but it should still sound right with the usual fingering if your fingers are timed correctly. I heard that Plas Johnson lipped it down.
@torekvalheim72076 жыл бұрын
Brilliant. How do you get the mellow sound? Is it solely due to the way you are playing, the mouthpiece, reed or a combination of these. It would be nice if you could tell me which mouthpiece and reed you are using. Thanks again !
@SaxStation6 жыл бұрын
I have been playing a while. 22 years now. I'm using a metal Otto Link 8 with a Rico reed. That seems to work well for me. You may or may not like it. I could maybe do a video where I play some different mouthpieces and reeds. In the end, I think I'm going to sound like myself regardless of what I'm playing.

Remembered this video just now, I play the first notes of 'Isn't She Lovely' at the beginning on two very different setups. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ7VnayKesShatE Alto sax with a hard rubber Vandoren V16 A8 and a synthetic reed (I think a Fiberreed) Tenor sax with the metal Otto Link 8 and a Rico reed. Let me know if you think the sound is different or not.

Subtones are more about the tone, not as much about volume. Could be the volume was lower than usual though.

@@SaxStation I've just started sax. Getting on pretty well but there is nowhere that shows how to play a B# as you do in the video. Everything else says B# is just a C I can see you finger stays down on the C but what are you doing to do the C#/B# part?

@@SaxStation The one thing I can find just shows B# as being a B with the octave key pressed down. That can't be right, right?

No, that’s not right. Your fingers go in the same places for B# as for C. It’s called an enharmonic equivalent.
