Thank you! This was great at explaining the rules! I read the instructions that came with my game, but am much better at visual learning, so this worked great 👍

Thanks Chris! I always like a good "puzzle" which Qwirkle is all about so hard not to be excited talking about it ;)

Thank you for this video. Our family enjoys game night once a week and this was a “new” game for us (we discovered it in the back of our game closet having forgotten it for years). It was nice to watch your video instead of reading the tiny print instructions. I remembered the game was over when the first player lays all their tiles, just like in dominoes. But I actually think we’ll change the rules to allow others to keep playing until all the tiles are down. Extended play, extended fun, extended points, extended family time. These games were developed with much thought, but rules were made to be broken, right? Well done. Simple explanation and short. Thank you.

You're Welcome! Thanks for stopping by and watching! Gotta love unearthing those hidden gems after years of sitting in storage! You are correct I made a boo boo with the game end condition. It should end when the first person gets rid of all their tiles and can't draw. I personally love using everything as you can milk some good points with the last few tiles.

It is NOT the game is over once every single tile has been laid, it is "the game ends when the FIRST player to lay down all his tiles". And that player gets a 6 point bonus. Then you look at the scores, highest score wins.

Welllll this is embarrassing. Thanks for pointing this out John! There goes my ability to milk points at the end of the game by laying single tiles in the same line consecutively.... Appreciate the clarification :) - Ben -

Question for Qwirkle if you are forming a row that has potential to be a qwirkle in the future for other players or yourself but there is a blank space then the line continues but still has potential to be a Qwirkle. Do you can the tiles behind the blank space in your total points for that play.

Hey Joseph, Great question. As nice as it would be to knock out a double qwirkle in that fashion, what you describe would not be a legal tile placement since as soon as you play the joining tile it would make one long line with multiples of the same tiles in it. However, If the 2 lines you are describing are at 90 degrees to each other, it is possible to play a single tile to qwirkle both simultaneously for a total 24 points off of one tile (Which I'm pretty sure the best points per tile you can get in the game)

We have played this for years but wonder if we do it right. We play all our tiles (6) each turn filling in lines all over the board in one turn. I was wondering if you only play on one row a turn

Interesting house rule! I like how that removes the ability to try to hold on to specific tiles to try to time qwirkles so its a bit more random and less long term strategic.

There is a rule that states you can ONLY play on one line. Is that true? OR could you place on one line and then place on another line, like in dominoes?

Hi Traci, There definitely is a rule that states it. The wording is "Your tiles must be played in the same line, although they do not have to touch each other" upload.snakesandlattes.com/rules/q/Qwirkle.pdf

If you lay down a stone into a double row, the stone itself is worth two points.

My question is is there any rule to refill the blocks? Do we have to put the remaining unused blocks back into the bag and take fresh six blocks? Please let me know. We always end up debating on how to refill them😂😂
@BJandCo
@BJandCo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandhhya, I'm not sure what you mean by refill. There is a rule to allow, if you don't like the blocks you have or just want to get better blocks, you can set aside any number of blocks from your hand then draw the same number of new tiles from the bag. once you have the new tiles put the tiles you set aside back into the bag. If you decide to do this on your turn, this is all you do you cannot place blocks. If for some reason you can't add to the grid then you must trade in some or all of your blocks. If you mean refill once the bag is empty, you don't. This just means you are almost at the end of the game, players can't fill their hand up or trade in and as soon as someone places their last tile the game ends.
