Great tutorial mate. I tried others with no success then came across yours and was able to get the game to run. I used my Quest 3 link cable and also found it ran OK with Virtual Desktop. I could not get Quest Link to work for some reason. I think using the link cable just had the edge over the Virtual Desktop setup. Any way thanks for the tutorial like other VR games IE Skyrim (with mods) the true to life aspect is great. I have hundreds of hours in RDR2 but now can see my horse for its true size.

After dozens of hours of research I finally figured out how to get rdr2 in vr run the best way without blurryness etc. On reddit I wrote a guide about but when I link it my post is deleted here on yt. that gets rid of all 3d. so its not actually virtual reality which is literally no different to playing in theater mode. I do not recommend it. if you play on medium to low or on low hardware it's going to indeed look blurry. only thing I can say us to upgrade in time. I just recently got a Intel i9 11900k cpu to pair with my 3080 and it runs like butter in the hmd for me

I was able to follow everything up until the part where it tells you to check the script hook for updates. When I load the game, it shows the rockstar logo like it usually does, then it stops the game. It doesn't show the script hook pop up, and im not able to play. Is there any solution?

Yeah I hate to say it but looks like R* mighta come round here an busted everythang up with an update or somethin. I just saw some videos about how these mods could still be used with some recent files and in GTA's case a little rolling back to get it working. Unfortunately I'm seeing the same thing here on Steam with a 3080 10gb. I can roll around with Franklin just fine but I can't get to Arthur to save my life. If anyone figures this out we'd love to hear about it. Looks like for now I'll just play flat.

yes it did for me, but all I had to do was go into the real vr configuration file and delete your current settings and just simply re do it and select your preset setting again. if you pressed yes to change scripthook just reinstall the mod

Just a suggestion, but it'd probably be better if you recorded on a 16:9 monitor if possible, text on an ultrawide is practically illegible at such a high resolution when it's squished down to 16:9 which is most common :)

I really appreciated all this guide. It did wonders for me and was working perfectly up until yesterday, july 29th 2024... Now, after my quest 2 drivers updated on windows 10 just yesterday, ever since it has been completely impossible to get the game to show on my quest 2 vr, the REAL mod does activate and I get the menu, but only in the pc screen. Can you please confirm for me if this is the case for everybody using the real vr mod by Ross? Its amazing for 2 minutes - riding a horse through the snow - but then at first shootout, stutters and lags and is unplayable. Damn. (Not a graphics problem, on low or high does the same. Looks like something with the mod wrecking the game... tested on a 3080gpu)

sounds like a cpu issue if I'm being honest. I tried playing on 3080 aswell but realised my cpu was holding me back big time. try do the first mission or first area (snowy mountains) first then install the vr into the game. I had to do that the first time I tried playing. hope it helps.

What's the best way to remove the mod if it's not working or you wanna go back to playing normal 2D mode. Does it keep your game save file intact if you go back and fourth at all?

just take a look at whats in the folder you extracted the mod from find the corresponding files and delete them and then look for anything that as VR in the file name if there are any left over delete them. and thats all that is needed.

First of all, thank you for the guide. I followed it exactly and got it working perfectly this morning. I managed to play a couple of missions and it looked great and ran great. I shut my PC down and just turned it back on, and now the game won't work at all. I've made sure I have the theatre mode option turned off but the game launches and it's stuck in theatre mode on a black screen with a yellow revolver symbol going round and round on the bottom right corner. Any idea what the fix for that might be? Thanks again.

Yes, I had a lot of trouble at first. I'd get to the black screen with the yellow revolver barrel down on the right-hand bottom of screen just going round and round. What I was missing was to remove the VR headset slightly so I could see the desktop and look for the white error message box. Clicking on that to close it fixed it for me. Oh, and don't forget to turn off theatre mode in steam. It took about 15 - 30 seconds then it went into the start of the game. The black & White photos that show are not in VR but when it gets to the start page then start game (for me) single player it went into VR mode.

there must be some setting thats overriding it for you, some updates happen regardless but you can just re install the mod, and you might've missed something mate, ive never had that error.

usually happens when the graphics preset is too high, its happened to me a few times before. when it happens just bring up the real vr menu again and press start in vr. should take you right back in hut try high or med settings. it might help.

nah it was just a random error, the rockstar launcher just wasn't connecting, before the vr mod didn't work because rockstar specifically made it so if it detected the vr mod it wouldn't connect to rockstar services and give you an error code, but relaunching it this time worked. ran out of memory error occurred but i increased my vram because i have 32 gigs and don't think that would be a problem lol@@EddyzGamingRoom

yes i dont know if i mentioned it i think i did on another comment. once the vr mod is put in settings is no longer accessible as the realvr programme then becomes your settings. anything you want to change i would recommend doing before putting in the mod. also if its graphics related stuff then there's no point as like i said realvr will overwrite that anyway. hope this helps.

I got it working, crazy. Basically, I had to change the install format (I went into the Realconfig.bat file in the dropbox, downloaded it from there (should be a winrar instead of a folder or regular paper looking file ((((I'm not good with computers, please don't mind, I'm trying my best to explain to anyone else having my problem))))) Then, CommandPrompt asked if I wanted to allow it to make changes, clicked yes, then it started working.

did you run the game first before you installed the mod? If you didn't. remove all the files that came with the vr mod folder and then run the game first. I would say start it till the first cutscene ends then try it or complete the first mission in the snow till your in the cabin then try installing the mod again. I hope this helps

you got it mate. I tried so hard trying to find a way round it but couldn't get there and gave up. the presets in the configuration file you set have their own settings assigned to the preset and can't be changed unfortunately.

We have to set our preferences in advance, through “Real Config” file, a batch file (about 36 kb); at the moment I never played CB, so I am the last person that you have to listen for an advice about it:). Anyway, I downloaded also another app or something to handle the game settings, “config overhaul for cyberpunk 2077” and I had to deleted Vrperfkit, because when I put vrperfkit.yml and dxgi.dll into game principal directory, where I launched the game, all my controllers don’t work (keyboard included). I’m able to run the game smoothly for the first few minutes, but anytime i try to enter my settings or map i receive the same error. It looks like @thelegand1 had the same issue as me, did you guys find a fix?

im really sorry if i didnt mention it, settings, once the mods installed, will completely crash the game. i recommend you alter your settings before installing the mod. if its anything to do with the graphics theres no real point as the vr mod will re write it all anyway. also some tips : try holding your pause/option menu instead of trying to access the map via pause screen and if you have any FPS counters on your monitor turn it off as it can cause visual artefact-ing in the HMD. I really hope this helps!
