Always played high card / hand showing has the bet. Never heard of this "bring in" with the low card.

Eight players times seven cards (if they do not fold), plus four burn cards (discarded cards before dealing the cards on next round of betting to prevent cheating) equals 60, thus exceeding the 52 cards in the deck. The burn cards are only dealt to the players of only a few cards are needed to complete the deal. If even those are not enough to complete the deal, on the final round of betting instead of dealing a downcard to each player, the dealer deals a community card, faceup in the center of the table, used by all players. Discarded cards from the players that folded during the hand are never reused.

Yes, however in most cases this is unlikely to happen because it's expected that at least some players will fold. Most of the time, this won't be a problem, but yes, it's good to know just in case it does happen.

Well, I actually thought that the maximum number of players should be 7 instead of 8 as well, just to avoid this situation. I read this in a book about variations of poker and how to play them and saw a few rules explanations from professional poker players on TV. They all stated 7 as the maximum player count. Also, most of these sources recommended 7 Card Stud as the best variation of poker for heads up play (2 players), because of the relatively large number of cards in play with so few players.

So... if a player makes a bet of two chips, then the next player raises, does the first player have to match the next player's bet or does it just go straight to the third player?

Action always proceeds in turn, clockwise. In your scenario, action would indeed go straight to the third player, who now faces the total bet made by the previous player. Action would continue clockwise through all active players in the hand, eventually returning to the initial bettor of the two chips. That player would then need to either call the new total bet, fold and lose his two chips, or re-raise the bet.

I've always wanted to try this but I can't find an online game. Does anyone know of a poker site that has 7 card stud?

The app, Poker Master, has a very active community of 7 card stud players. For a strange reason, they're all from S. Korea and they play with a rule where you start with 4 cards, discard one, and select which one to show face up, then before betting, 3rd and 5rth street are dealt. I believe this is done to speed up the game (should we call it Korean 7 stud? I've never seen this game in The U.S.). It also has 7 stud hi-lo with this rule. Badugi, Speed poker, and a game called one eyed jack which adds jokers on top of the 7 card stud game + korean rules.

@@Pokarface7 I'll check it out. I'd be much more interested in finding something like the normal game described in the video. I'm going to Vegas in a month, there's a few poker rooms there that have it (perhaps not during Covid) but I wouldn't dare try it for real without any practice.

For Android, rstpoker.com/android/en/index.html?ref=wa This app let's you open a table to play 7 stud, 5 card draw, Hold'em, and PLO, but I never see anyone playing 7 stud, you'll have to invite your friends. Yes, there's still 7 Stud with the rules in this video and 7 Stud hi-lo played in Las Vegas :-)
