I’m sure they do. I don’t know what their problem is. I managed to hard carry this game and get 143k damage by torping only one BB. It’s really not that difficult to play the objectives. Damage usually follows that if you do it right

Have the CC's brought up that we have not got spotting damage, Assist counters yet, and how helpful it would be to teach new and even old players that don't know how to passive spot correctly. I think if people saw the spotting. Assist damage counters jumping up while they're not being attacked it would be very educational.

Yes. It would be helpful to have those numbers but I think the devs say they won’t do it because it’s too much clutter on the screen. I think that’s nonsense. More info the better. But the CCs don’t have as much sway as you might think. It’s better if a ton of people in the community request a feature like that so WG knows how much it’s wanted.

I agree. A lot of people claim bad players do well in Shimakaze and that’s why it’s OP, but usually a bad player in a Shimakaze is obvious. They either die quickly after getting off a salvo of torps, or farm lots of damage that is of no real consequence, chasing battleships while the enemy destroyers cap the bases. What’s dangerous is an experienced player in Shimakaze. That’s a real nightmare to deal with. You can spot and cap using your stealth, while also getting damage on targets of opportunity. Then in the back end of the match you can farm insane damage. It’s not that great in the hands of a bad player. But a good player can be an absolute menace.

People begging for smoke at spawn are the worst players in every match they’re in, regardless if they ask for smoke or not. They habitually have a play style that almost guarantees a loss.

Shimi is really best in div. People get all lathered up about its torps, but they're really best at area denial--like Japanese cruisers. If someone actually runs into them, great. They hit like meteorites, but keeping enemy ships out of places you don't want to them to go is their best use. It's outstanding at spotting and its guns aren't bad, but they're pretty typical IJN--not to be relied on in a pinch. LRT play in general is so bad it's a cliche at this point, but this ship is just so badly played as a rule that's it's the poster child for all that's wrong with the tier.

Indeed. That’s why I made this video. I think this is a pretty solid hard carry between me and the Agir. And I really wanted to put it up because it shows how to deal with something like a Khaba, which the Shima can’t really fight in a straight up gun duel.

The smokescreen point is wild. Like what if I had already used it?!?! I think there should be an option to signal you do not have something or that it is still on Cool down... Like double-clicking the smoke button

For me my primary objective in a Shima is to dev strike torp Final Boss. I only play Shima when he is on line!

How do you even know if he’s online? Friends via Legends? Is that why I constantly get invites to divisions even if PlayStation network says I’m offline? Does Legends actually tell you the player is online?! Oh my gosh. This is a revelation.

I did yolo'd an Alaska division in the Shimakaze and took one of them out and those two other Alaskas were really really mad after I escaped when both were firing at me and radaring me. It left me at 6 hp.

The biggest takeaway i have from this game replay is once again showing that the under utilization of Perception or Twist n Track is a such a huge misplay... a Khaba has no idea where you are despite you sinking his teammates because hes too focused on farming BBs a Shima that sails right past you only to get himself sunk moments later... and of course i see you are not using it as well and while you are a good enough player to get around it by playing positioning and tendencies most are not. As for the playing objectives and spotting we agree on that point as I always say it isnt about damage in DDs someone has to do the dirty work. It may not yield the most fun but it will yield the most wins

I mean I found that game fun, and I did a decent amount of damage without seeking it. Turns out if you pay attention to the map and position well, dealing damage usually follows from that. As for Khaba and has lack of RPF? Eh. He still should’ve known I was there just by being spotted. And even if he had it, I still easily outspot him, so I doubt it would’ve helped him. I’m just glad the Agir was in the game. I’m sure I could’ve taken care of Lepanto myself at the end, but I’m not 100% convinced I could’ve finished off Khaba without his assistance.

@@Xarkun not saying you did bad at all Xarky im simply saying that none of the DDs seen here had RPF and clearly 2 of them couldve benefited from it. That Khaba was very sus lets be honest and while yes you outspot the Khaba that Khaba should have rushed you. He is much faster than you and even after eating the torp had a huge fire power advantage. I personally just dont understand why people dont use the tools at their disposal to help them find and eliminate other DDs

All I’m really saying is I think figuring out how to read the map and asking yourself “where do I put my dd on the map to be effective?” is what you want to do if you’re looking to get better. And Shima players in particular seem exceptionally bad at doing that. They just run face first into BBs and die.

As a torpedo DD player, the opponent running that guarantees I can avoid him 100% of the time if I want and guarantees I’m the one who picks every fight. You can’t outspot and the torpedo DD will always know when you’re the closest ship. Is it effective against bad DD players? Absolutely. But it’s a poor choice against any half intelligent DD player.

Agreed Spartan - DDs without Perceptive are at a big disadvantage. Not just for hunting/evading, but also for firing zoning torps that get you 'lucky' hits on red team DDs

Almost always the worst choice on torpedo DDs like Shimakaze. They’re only good on gunboat DDs and even then, not always the best choice. You remove all surprise and a smart opponent will instantly be able to predict your general location.

Nah. I’ve been wanting to do this video for a while. Reason I did it is because last night I was playing another ship and then I saw a friendly Shima perform exceptionally poorly. So I said, “that’s it. We’re playing the Shima and doing a video on it.” And it took me two tries to get a decent game for YT.

Because Shima players are awful by and large and they need a demonstration of how to do it right. Maybe they’ll be less likely to throw when they get on my team if they’re playing the objectives, you know? Probably not, but I have to at least try.
