I am confused by the trick around the 10:00 mark. I understand that the club lead the trick but doesn't the player who played the 7 spade win and not the person who played A clubs?

I believe you are absolutely correct. 7 Spade trumped all other cards played.

According to the trick led with the ace of clubs, the 7 of spades will win the trick, even though that clubs is led. Since spades are trump in this card game, any spade will rank higher than cards of other suits.
