Have! Love the play on words. Fun fact: Spoonerism is an actual word. A spoonerism is a speech error in which the speaker switches the initial consonants of two consecutive words. If you say "bunny phone" instead of "funny bone," you've uttered a spoonerism.

I play a different tempo on the spoons..Reels, Jigs, and Hornpipes. My most popular video on my channel is the spoon playing one..ha..ha. That are often played at sessions here in Ireland but musicians don't particularly like them they prefer the Irish drum which is called a Bodhrán.

This does help so much. Thank you. My son is a drummer and over the weekend I showed him the roll I’d learned after watching your first video, mind you he’s witnessed my very plain Jane spoon playing over the past thirty years, and he was genuinely super proud of me for learning a new skill. I still can’t really do it up to speed so I had to revert to my basics when playing with my daughter and husband for our Mother’s Day gathering yesterday but I’m not giving up. It’s so fun and it adds so much to the jam sessions. Can’t wait til I get up to speed and my brother comes over to play. He plays bluegrass super fast. That’s gonna be so fun.

I saw your most famous video a couple of years back and was happy to hear your music. I found a set of rhythm bones in some family heirlooms a number of years ago and have always been drawn to playing spoons for some reason. I’ve never know anyone who played spoons and hadn’t ever pursued taking lessons but I am SO glad I have found you learn how to play videos!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :-) I’ve been holding my spoons and bones quite differently than you instruct and now I see why it’s been so hard to produce certain sounds and keep track of that bottom anvil spoon. I’m planning on a lot of practice this winter since I’m couch bound with a broken knee and now have plenty of forced down time. Thanks for all of your videos. I really enjoy them.

I love this video so much. You walk it through so simply. I love the phrase "pretty much... watch the first video!" I started with spoons at age 11. I saw someone use them at a youth worship. I played and figured out how to play on my own with regular spoons. I never had a genius moment of clarity to use coban! What? Comfort? Ruin some spoons? Huh? It's brilliant. My main struggle was how much they slipped. I never thought.... just ruin ONE pair of spoons and keep'm for music.... Ha! As an adult I can now abuse my silverware as I please! Sadly, it has taken until age 40 to decide that I can ruin cutlery. You are my destructive muse. It is by your behest that I am now motivated to buy and destroy silverware at my whimsy! Bahaha! I have the POWER!!!

love, love your spoon playing! I'm 56 years old and am just trying to play the spoons. I thought it would be more difficult, but surprisingly I'm pretty comfortable with them. I am by NO means good at it, but I am just beginning. I have watched all of your videos and love your music. I am a born and raised Texas gal, nothing fake and do not fit in anywhere, and don't care. I prefer the back of a horse to a vehicle, freedom to hunt, fish, and camp, and a good dog by my side. Don't care about outward appearance because it's what's inside that matters. Please keep being you and please keep making video's. The one thing I am having trouble with is finding good old spoons, not Stainless. I will keep playing what I have til I find the right ones for me.

You are amazing! When I was a child, a gentleman played spoons at the church I attended. Now, they don't allow spoons or tambourines in the churches. I joked with the pastors and said the reason the churches have lost their anointing is that they kicked out the spoons and tambourines. Well, a pastor told me that he'd let me, and only me, play the spoons if I'd learn them. Now, I plan to take him up on it! My question though is what do I look for in spoons? Everyone has an opinion. Some say to buy cheap spoons because the expensive ones are too high-pitched. Some say soup spoons but others say oversized tablespoons work best. Some say that you need a wide base. Others say that I shouldn't worry at all about the spoon type because I will have to modify the spoons and that I will eventually have different types for different songs. What do you suggest?
