I liked this when I first saw it a couple of years ago and I liked it again today. For what it's worth the piano that "sounds nothing like a piano" on the Jimi Polo track (10:50) was the Ensoniq SQ80. It's actually my favourite house piano sound. It was also used on Adamski's 'Killer', Joe Smooth's 'Promised Land', Sterling Void's 'It's Alright', and a couple of tracks by The Beatmasters. Btw, the last chord in the Jimi Polo sequence should be an Fm, not an Ab (two of the same notes though).

Personally feeling inspired knowing someone else besides myself is still using the SV1 as a piano controller. It still has solid sounds for a 10+ year old model , but the key action is fantastic

Good vibes to wake up to on a bank holiday Monday, particularly one where I get to go out and play a lot of this era's offerings in a first gig in well over 18 months. Great vids as always and good to finally see a face to the name and the voice. Peace brother.

I came across this as looking for Happy Clappers piano keys. You might be the only one that's done a tutorial! Nice one. Anyway, what you're playing sounded a little different, so I've listened back to the original song and I'm pretty certain the Dm (if that's right) isn't played twice in a row. There's a different chord it alternates with. One is held (sustain?) for longer too. Any ideas?
@StarskyCarr Жыл бұрын
Yeah just listened back and it’s held longer in the second pass. Subtle but it’s there. The Dm is played twice but more of a passing note rather than a double hit

@@StarskyCarr Yes, you're right. I'm on holiday at the mo so can't try on my keyboard, but am going to have fun playing this and some of the others you've recorded when I get home! Do you think the 2nd to last chord in Happy Clappers might be F major?

First here and back again. Not sure if you read my comment in the last video. With regards to the orig instrument source for the Alison Limerick where love lives piano ? Great showcase of all tracks Starsky , just can't get the race vibe out of my blood :-)
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
Haha… yeah I did and welcomed back 😀.. I couldn’t leave it up with the typos. Hopefully people will watch this in years from now and the thought of having the wrong chords labelled was doing my head in. 🤦♂️. I’ve no idea what piano was used - I’ve been concentrating on getting the notes right - and in particular that lovely little run before the chorus.
@AdamTheAd-vanc3d3 жыл бұрын
@@StarskyCarr No worries awesome stuff. Just love me a bit of house style piano. Haha i know what you mean I did that once after It took sooo long to render. At least you can look back on it without cringing to yourself at the mistakes. P.s . I didnt notice hehe 😁😁😁

You are playing Move Your Body waaaayyyy too fast. Marshall Jefferson stated on GearSlutz that he played the piano line in at about 40 bpms and then sped it up after.

I’m playing it at the same speed as the record. 🤷♂️
