Hi Mr Barnes, hope you're well. Whilst you're doing rock drum fills, how about Garbage, When I grow up? The break is at about 2:30, sounds simple but works perfectly in the song and brings it back to the beat in, what I think is a cool & exciting way, just as a fill ought to be.

Great lessons as always, although I'd add that many drummers love the kick drum notes in that track too
@@MikeBarnesDrums another reason why I wish I'd learnt to read years ago, I find now my original band days are over I play covers and try to be true to each song but using my ears I find sometimes I play a beat or part too many or not enough times ha ha. But at 58 not sure I can focus enough to learn. BTW I always recommend yourself to other young drummers who talk to me after a gig, especially your tips on Toto's Rosanna as I find it the best on the net to follow & understand. Much appreciated
@MikeBarnesDrums3 жыл бұрын
@@Foreverdrums Cheers Chris! Much appreciated. You 100% could learn to read if you wanted to, what's being 58 got to do with it? Seen hundreds of people in that age category successfully learn and my oldest student was 82 when he STARTED. Go for it! Simply a matter of application IMO and experience :)
