Thank man I've been doing it wrong by getting the 3rd finger in the middle of the 3rd fret, pressing extra hard and injuring my fingers

I've only been learning for about 3 months but i figured out that i like switching my index and middle finger. Middle finger on 2nd fret, G string, index finger on 2nd fret, E string, ring finger on 3rd fret B string. This feels more natural and it's easier. But I'm concerned that there's a reason that i should work on doing it correctly instead of doing it this easier way. Can someone tell me if I'm going to run into issues down the line by switching my first 2 fingers?

@@kanakpratapsingh8466 That works too :-) Sometimes I use the middle, ring and pinky to fret a D chord or a partial barre chord across the first 2 strings and the index on the 2ns string. It depends on the cicumstances.

Just gotta practice finger positioning.... keep your nails trimmed REALLY short and make sure that you're on the very tip of your finger instead of more of the flat. I've reached the point where I can correct myself easily enough, but I always end up pressing too low on the finger on that B string and having to correct it.

I hate this chord. I can play it fine by itself, but I really struggle switching from A to D without missing a beat (using a metronome for example). When I rush/hurry the change I always end up muting the thinnest string. Not sure if its a problem with finger two or three but yeah its bloody annoying after a week and still struggling! I cant even play the most basic of songs until I learn to swap from A to D without missing a beat.....but I'll get there eventually !!

Why my thin string don't sound after pressing too hard😭😭
@justinguitar Жыл бұрын
Are you pressing them too hard? does it occur on other places as well? the "string action" could be strange in some places, killing the sound of strings where they hit strings. This means your guitar might need a proper setup | all about action: www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/guitar-action-string-heights-cc-103 | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Guide, Approved Teacher & Community Moderator

So like, couldn't you just use your pinky finger instead of stretching?
@justinguitar6 ай бұрын
Using 4th finger to play the D chord is a bad habit and I would encourage you to break it asap. One of the key things you will learn a little down the line is the option of adding your 4th finger on to the 2st string at fret 3 while still holding the D chord. This makes a Dsus4 chord. It is used in countless songs. The fingering you have adopted makes it impossible. Another very common move is going from D to a full 4-finger G with finger 3 on the 3rd fret of the B string and finger 4 on the 3rd fret of the E string. Again, your fingering is going to make this move (normally smooth, quick and easy) a much more difficult one. Persevere with fingers 1, 2 and 3. It will come. Your big fingers are probably still soft-tipped and the flesh is spreading out a little, causing some unwanted muting perhaps. When the callouses develop, and when you make micri adjustments in the position of your hand and fingers, it will come good. Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher www.justinguitar.com/donate
