I just ordered the F# flute from your etsy store and am so excited to receive it! The tribe I'm from traditionally plays drum or the one-string banjo but since I moved to the lower 48, I don't get to hear that music much anymore. Since us Natives are so good at adapting, connecting to my heritage through the Native Flute is my next best step. I can't wait to start playing!

I've been listening to some longtime players and I find their breath control to be an integral part of their music. So this video is much appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you Charlie, I have only just found your video's on playing the and making flutes, they are awesome thank you so much, I have many flutes, and really want to learn how to play them. As my DH played them and that is something that I miss now as he passed a few years ago, and he made some as well, have a few that are half finished and don't know what to do with them? But I do want to play the ones that I do have. Thanks for sharing your talentsit is awesome of you!

Slowly inspiring me to take it up again. Always loved the sound but have neighbours a wall away on either side so the volume has been a problem and it's felt rude to play. I could go on, but thanks anyway, am learning plenty and enjoying the videos. Time to make a bass 🤔😄

Very true about the air. I was gonna return my flute after playing it for a couple hrs cuz I didn't like the sound it was making. I thought is was defected. Turned out it was me that was not blowing the correct amount of air. Needless to says I'm gonna keep the flute. LOL 😊

If the flute jumps octaves is that a sign of too much air or not enough?
@BlueBearFlutes2 жыл бұрын
It can be anything from a flaw in making the flute, to blowing too hard, the block covering the sound hole or a finger not covering a hole completely.
@Jimmy-wn6ll2 жыл бұрын
Ok bc sometimes I just can't get it to stop shrieking its frustrating

Is a drone flute a Native American Flute or a modern hybrid?
@BlueBearFlutes4 жыл бұрын
That is an excellent question! I will have to give you a two-part answer. Originally, Native Americans did make drone flutes. Most of the types of drone flutes made today are hybrids based on those styles. We find the oldest drone flutes in Central America belonging to the Colima culture and today you can find beautifully designed drone flutes in Mexico descending from them.
