Glad I found your channel. Been playing in standard all my life and just started wanting to explore that Irish / Celtic sound a bit. This is fun!

I've been playing guitar for too many years including various open tunings but never DADGAD until I stumbled across your very helpful and approachable lessons on KZbin and now loving the sound of it so many thanks for that

Cheers Steve! Sorry about the delay in reply. I've been away on tour for the past 9 weeks and just catching up on things now. I appreciate the kind comment. I'll try my best to keep the videos coming 👍

Great! Now do a song based on the outside skeleton where you you sing the full chord names!

Hi Aodan, do you have any recommendation for playing out of different chord shapes besides the D shapes? I have a song that's in C# and I'd rather not capo at the 11th fret...anything that you find makes a good alternative to D without losing too much of the open sound?
@aodancoynemusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi Halle, yes I'll be making a few videos on how to play in other keys without the capo soon. The best thing to do for the moment would be to learn the DADGAD chord shapes for the key of C - (C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am & Bdim). Then put the capo on the 1st fret to play the song in C#. I have made a course that covers all the main keys in open positions too if that help 👍 - aodancoyne.samcart.com/products/key-mastery-bundle-followup/

@@aodancoynemusic That does make sense! Do you use the skeleton scale format to work with the other keys too? It's such an intuitive way to use the fretboard and to see the difference between the major and minor thirds of the scale

Great stuff here. Not be pedantic, but there is no such thing as an augmented minor chord, because when you raise the fifth of a minor triad it becomes a major chord in first inversion. So there is no F#m+ chord, you would call it a D/F#

Thanks for pointing that out David 👍 D/F# is spot on 👌
