Thanks Tom, I've been studying Robin Bullock's Harp-like guitar (no successive note is played on the same string) and I put these scales in an Excel sheet for easier reference. Tony McManus plays a harp-like descending D Major scale as strings 1-Open, 2-4th, 3-4th, 2-Open, 3-Open, 4-4th, 5-7th, 4-Open. These are great reference for me as I play a Martin 000-28. Great lesson!

Scales in Drop D Tuning?

It’s the exact same as standard with the exception of one string. It’s fun to use that deep D bass in the key of D or Dm. The main fun I’ve found in drop D are power chords. Just barre the low 3 strings and that’s your new power chord shape. Look up the band, Days of the New, for some drop D sounds.
