@jellyyz63356 жыл бұрын
Look its simple. You must have 60 cards in your deck (usually the same type like water , grass etc.) . Place it in the deck area. (Remember to shuffle) Draw 6 cards (dont look at them) and put them in a 2×3 size to the left side of the field (those are prize cards, add one to your hand when you destroy your opponents pokemon). Draw 7 cards (this is your hand). Decide on who goes first (person going first doesnt attack) by using a coin. Once you have your hand ready you can now put a pokemon down. You can only play one pokemon at a time , put it in the active zone (remember only 1 pokemon because you can only use 1 at a time) . This is your active pokemon which attacks. You can also put cards from your hand to the bench which is right under the active pokemon slot. Only 5 cards can go in there. If your active pokemon is destroyed , bring a pokemon from your bench to the active slot. (The opponent can win if you dont have any cards in your bench). Now you are ready to start ! To attack with your pokemon , youll need to insert the required energy card under your active pokemon (you can only put one energy undrr your active pokemon once per turn). Once you have enough energies you can attack. (You can also add energies to your pokemon in the bench but only once per turn.) When you attack , you subtract your attack power from your opponents active pokemons hp) . E.g. If i have a pokemon that can attack right now (it has 50 attack) . I attack! If my opponents active pokemon has 60HP , it now has 10HP. It is now my opponents turn. Remember someone can only attack once they have enough energy cards required. If you destroy 1 of your opponents pokemon , you can get one of your prize cards and add it to your hand. Once all of your prize cards are gone, you win the game. If the opponent has no more cards in thier deck, they lose. If your opponent hss no pokemon in thier bench, they lose. And if anyones pokemon gets destroyed, it goes to the discard pile (under deck slot) along with the energy cards and item cards etc. It had with it. You can equip an item to a pokemon once per turn. Stadium/field cards are placed just outside the field and the effects occur to both players. They can only be destroyed by attack/effect. Cards can also be 'poisned or confused' etc. In decks that you purchase you will find a token with a plaster on one side and skull and cross bones on the other. Thats bassicalky everything. Btw sorry for spelling mistakes , i hate auto correct so much i disabled it . So i cant be bothered fixing spelling mistakes amd you can understand what I am trying to say.

Can I change the rules a bit since I don't have 60 cards, and neither does my sister? It will be a long time until it's my birthday, and then I will get new pokemon cards, and then I will have to have another battle with my sister because I have a few of her pokemon cards. Then, I need to wait until I get 100 stickers, doing my chores, and then I will have a lot of pokemon cards. More than 60, actually, so will I have to remove a few of my cards before playing?

I think it's more the amount of things you have to keep track of. None of those parts are that complex, but it's putting them all together and planning around them all at once that trips people up. It's like when Genwunners say "Pokémon battles are too complicated now!"

Soooo... I've been playing completely wrong: when I play with my friends, we can choose our active and benched before shuffling our deck and draw 5 cards on our first turn, not 7. We also allow as many evolutions as we want, regardless of how long they've been in play and we allow ourselves to add any energy attached to a knocked out Pokemon back to our hands :P Also, once or twice I may have attached two tool cards to one Pokemon :P Oh, and you can't attack on your first turn unless specified by the card. Despite the fact that these rules are wrong, it's been very fun to play casually and (after consulting my friends) I think we shall continue with our own rules as they have worked so far, but great video and it was cool to watch :)

You're trolling......right? Anywho. Try the online version first. They way the plays are broken down along with the little helpful hints they give you makes it much cleaner and less complicated.....The card game comes from Magic the gathering btw/ Lol

Great vide. I've been starting wrong. Last time I played was in the early 00's and the rules have changed, it seems. I'm teaching my oldest, now 5, and my middle, now 4, how to play. I used to have tournaments with my family around the dinner table when I was a teen. My daughter enjoyed this as well, and I'm sending this to my mom so she can get a refresher. A quick story, if your interested: Only time I got to play was with my family and had never bought a box that had the rules(only got individual packs, so I was playing the way a friend had taught me and, in turn, how I taught my family. I went to a tournament at a mall here in TX, and brought my deck, but my mom said to use hers, she had a haymaker deck, and I went to battle. I lost quickly. I had 6 Electabuzz and a deck of 70! Uhg. I found out later the actual rules, but man I was embarrassed. That was the last time I played a game without having a rule book to read!

It's like MTG but more complicated
@squidynavagation445411 жыл бұрын
ehhh i would say mtg is more complicated with all the counters that can be added and taken away and all the abilities that can take place. they only thing that i find complicated about this game is the positioning of the card for sleep/confused/paralyzed

This video helped out a little bit. To be completely honest, I've only played the Pokémon video games and collected the cards. I've never really built a deck or battled in the TCG. I'm still kinda confused about deck building as I'm extremely a newb at the TCG, but this helped for a lot of other stuff. I'm also realizing I'm much much better at the video games compared to the TCGs lol

I like to add little rules to the tcg and one I added was that the retreat cost was your speed. The less you needed to retreat, the faster you were. If you tie, flip a coin.

Just a heads up, this video is nearly 10 years old, and some of the roles have been modified slightly since. For example, burn now does the 20 damage, regardless of the result of a coin flip. You still flip a coin when burned, but it now heals the burn outright on heads, after taking the 20 damage.
