I love the harmonic analysis. I don't know of any other channel that does it, but I really find it the most helpful part. Way easier to memorize a piece as chords. Thanks Mark

Sounds beautiful Mark. You know I'm sitting on my balcony this morning & apologetically viewing this on my ph. I actually had to do a dble take because at first it sounded like you were using a digital delay but was just the phrasing & the way you were playing it. Wow, I never thought that could be done on a 4 string bass.I so wish to learn this piece. Thanks kindly for your time, effort & patience in bringing us these very cool tutes. Cheers from Sydney DownUnder 👍🎸🎶🙂🙏

Thank you. Nicely explained. A large meal that I will relish slowly and digest incrementally!

I don't think I've ever seen Mark playing one-finger-per-fret before. Does that have to do with the type of music?
@kolel15652 жыл бұрын
It depends on the shape you are going to use but its ok to use the simandl and one finger per fret with your left hand. The Main reason is cuz you don’t want the pinky finger off the fretboard cuz that will take more energy on the left hand and tire it faster.

Good on you for doing it in the original G instead of D as is more often (and more easily executed) the case. May I just offer that the first note of each new arpeggiated chord is in fact the last note of the preceding arpeggiated pattern, so ignore the suggestion of Bach's articulation indication (it is not a phrase marking), which suggest only that the first three notes are necessarily legato. So, the first note of each arpeggio is 'not' in fact the beginning of anything...it is more so the end of what has gone before it, than ever it is the beginning of something new. The rule of musicianship that MUST be followed is...DON'T ABANDON WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN ANTICIPATION OR PREPARATION OF WHAT IS NOT YET COME! That's why you NEVER cut the last note of a phrase short, because if you do, the consequence of the whole phrase is discarded. The ear is indifferent to you beginning a new phrase a fraction of a second late (as is the case when a wind player of singer must breathe), especially when the phrase crosses the down beat. Hear (lol) is an example of these principles at work at a very high level of instrumental virtuosity and musicianship. This is how to find the music 'despite' playing it on an instrument even less well suited to the music's challenges than the electric bass: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoXVmKeriMyfgsUsi=iYYFV05IwM8i3xm2

nice lesson, i have been working on a transposition in to B major as with out a low B string on the bass you are not able to hit the low c# in bar 20 when playing on a 4 sting bass guitar in the first octave. How do go about arranging it for a 4 string? I would love to see a lesson on bars 20 - 25, keep up the good work.

Get a 5-string!! You'll never look back!

Tuning down - you'd need to practice arpeggios as pre-hab to start the practice session of the piece

No. That’s Prelude In C from The Well Tempered Clavier.
