Today we will learn how to play this fun blues solo. By focusing on target notes you will level up your blues lead guitar soloing. We will use the A blues scale for structure and add target notes (chord tones) to create an awesome blues lead guitar solo!!! That's why I keep recommending Rusty's Guitar to all the other musicians here at the old folks' home -- because he's not teaching the most complicated topics, he shows you how to make the simple concepts ROCK. 🎸🤘

Great use/example of the chromatic scale here as well Mr. Rusty!! That plus hitting some unusual notes in the Blues scale but not generally always used really helps our solos stand out without making things too difficult or challenging and keeps us less worried about boring theory. After all, our primary goal is to always sound great and stand out different whilst having fun and not clogging our brains trying to retain a bunch of theory! We mostly just want to sound great and not always make it about what theory works or why!! Jim C.

Hey Jim, I use chromatic lines quite often, but don’t teach it very often. Those few extra notes really say a lot. I appreciate the comment. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, buddy.👍

Certainly a great concept Rusty....and you're right, it's all about target notes of the chord underneath. I'm getting better at this. It takes a lot of practice (for me) but I AM getting there and it's lots of fun too. Thank you for keeping me on track :)

If you could do the same for at least some of what you did on your ‘One chord improvisation’ (which you put out around May 11 of this year), particularly some of what comes within the first few minutes, that would be terrific. There’s a really good long winding break you do which sounds really special and unique. I took your advice and have tried picking it up by watching in slow motion, but I have to say, I don’t find that easy, and of course it makes it very hard to get the rhythm.

Hi, I am a beginner so I can not understand as I guess of we use A major chord so we should use A major pentatonic, right? But we use minor pentatonic with some additional target notes, so why minor scale notes sounds good in this case?
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 17 күн бұрын
These are more advanced techniques. I like using the structure of the A minor pentatonic scale over this progression. And then adding a few target notes from the notes of the chords. You can use the major pentatonic it will have a different sound. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.👍
