When you listen to Thunderstruck by AC/DC, the lead guitar part grabs your attention and really never lets go. Because of this, the rhythm guitar part tends to get forgotten. But Malcolm’s rhythm playing in this song (and just about every other AC/DC classic) is amazing and shouldn’t be overlooked. So in this lesson, Ayla and Kent are here to break down both guitar parts from Thunderstruck!

About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first KZbin video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

Gr8 fun lesson Guy's & a Happy new year to you when it comes . Keef Richards famously said you can't go into a Music shop & ask for a Lead Guitar you play both parts on the same guitar . .. But I am not so sure that is true any more there is more specialisation .. of Course Jimmy Page Recorded almost all of the 1st two albums with a Telecaster & only used Les Pauls on stage because his Telecasters were too precious . To take out on the road . Anyway . Big love to all Musos's of all ages & whether you are just starting out or have been playing for many years .. Enjoy the journey . I always find myself inspired by these Guitareo lessons .. & I always learn something Keep on Keeping on . Thanks & cheers

First, thank you Ayla. I find you to be interesting and certainly a great wealth of knowledge. I tried a looper pedal but for some reason I never could get the timing perfect in order to use it. That being said, I struggle with a balance in playing rhythm and "lead" guitar in reference to a multi guitar part song. What I mean to say is that I play alone 90% of the time. I like to play many things that may require multiple guitars or even a different instrument. I try to blend the elements of all of them to get the feel of the song as closely as possible but on one instrument. Maybe you could do a video that addresses this. How to replicate the sound and feel of a song but solo. Thank you, Kevin

I like the vids you Give to beginners .. I bet they understand and learn from it. You are right about Angus pics the notes and no hammer on and pull offs. I dig. How you used same guitars sg and gretch. Only thing didn't care for was your amps. And never use reverb. They plug straight. Into a pair if Marshal jcm series no effects no pedals . Malcolm plays completely clean most Of the time and Angus uses the distortion that's. Built into the amp. And that's how they get their sound. Ps. One of you have a bad ground or a bad chord. Think a bad ground.
